In-Office Phlebotomist Supervisor -Mobile, AL area
The IOP Supervisor role is designed to support the Senior Manager of Phlebotomy
Solutions in managing their IOP Phlebotomists. Tasks can be tailored to fit the needs of
the Regional Manager and their locations or Region. Below are all the tasks or duties of
an In-Office Phlebotomist Supervisor.
Position: In-Office Phlebotomist Supervisor
Position Summary:
An In-Office Phlebotomist Supervisor will supervise the day-to-day operations of the
designated In-Office Phlebotomists in their territory and oversee Natera’s phlebotomy
program locally at specified locations. An In-Office Phlebotomist Supervisor may be
required to cover at their clinics as needed, where they will serve patients by identifying
the best method for retrieving blood, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and
performing screening procedures.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of phlebotomists across designated
locations.
Handle recruitment, onboarding, and training of new in-office phlebotomists.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, routine audits, competencies, and
inspections, provide feedback, and implement staff development initiatives to
maintain quality patient care at all times.
Work with Contracting and Analytics to process monthly compliance and
quarterly audits.
Manage staffing schedules to ensure optimal coverage and productivity at all
clinics.
Oversee supply inventory, equipment maintenance, and resource allocation.
Ensure that all In-Office Phlebotomists operate efficiently, consistently adhering
to protocols and procedures.
Develop and implement strategies in tandem with the Senior Manager to ensure
patient access, meet financial and volume targets, and improve efficiency.
Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), such as patient volumes, turnaround
times, and specimen quality to drive operational improvements.
Ensure the highest level of patient satisfaction by fostering a welcoming and
professional environment.
Ensure safe, secure, and healthy work environments at all locations by following
standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Provide support to resolve unusual test orders by contacting the physician,
pathologist, or reference laboratory and referring unresolved orders back to the
originator for further clarification.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading
professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in
professional organizations.
Enhances the phlebotomy department by accepting ownership for accomplishing
new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job
accomplishments.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and
company policies, as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
This role works with PHI regularly, both in paper and electronic form, and has
access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) to perform
the job.
Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
Logistical management/printing of patient reports for that area.
Billing question answering/triaging and follow-up with the sales team as needed.
Adress and escalate patient complaints or concerns as needed promptly and
empathetically.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and laboratory personnel to ensure accurate
and timely communication regarding specimen results.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minium of 5 years of phlebotomy experience
BS/BA degree (preferred)
High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
Phlebotomy Certificate (if required by State)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Remote position, helping in an in-office environment as needed, travel necessary
