Job Summary:

As our Social Media Intern, you’ll play a vital role in shaping our online presence and engaging our target audience. You’ll have the opportunity to flex your creative muscles across the entire content lifecycle, from brainstorming innovative ideas to seeing your work come to life on our social media channels. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media marketing and make a real impact.

Job Expectations:

  • Content Brainstorming & Ideation: Dive into creative sessions, both independently and with the team, to generate compelling content ideas that resonate with our audience and align with our brand.
  • Content Creation (Solo & Team): Bring your ideas to life by creating a variety of engaging content formats, including text posts, photos, short-form videos, and more. Collaborate with the team on larger content projects.
  • Content Editing & Refinement: Polish your creations to perfection through meticulous editing, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and brand consistency.
  • Captivating Caption Writing: Craft compelling and on-brand captions that drive engagement, encourage interaction, and effectively communicate key messages.
  • Strategic Scheduling & Posting: Learn the art of content scheduling and utilize social media management tools to ensure timely and consistent posting across various platforms.
  • Visual Storytelling with Canva: Unleash your design skills using Canva to create visually appealing social media assets that capture attention and enhance our brand identity.
  • On-the-Ground Content Activation: Represent our brand at events and college campuses, capturing dynamic content through photos and videos, and engaging with attendees.
  • Public Engagement (Filming & Interviews): Confidently conduct on-camera interviews and film engaging content in public settings, such as college campuses and events.
  • Community Support: Assist our Community Manager by monitoring social media channels, responding to comments and direct messages in a timely and professional manner, and actively engaging with our online community to foster positive interactions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A genuine passion for social media and a strong understanding of various platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a knack for crafting engaging and concise copy.
  • A creative eye and a basic understanding of visual design principles.
  • Familiarity with Canva or other graphic design tools is a plus.
  • Comfort and confidence in working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for in-person content days (1-3 times per month) and occasional public events.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer, with the possibility of transitioning to part-time hours in the fall.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with social media scheduling tools.
  • Basic video editing skills.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics.
  • Previous internship or volunteer experience in social media or marketing.

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with Canva or other graphic design tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn).
  • Familiarity with video editing platforms such as CapCut, Inshot, etc.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred

Education Requirements:

Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing or Business Administration.
