About the Position:

To lead the design, implementation, and continuous optimization of a secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and highly available multi-tenant SaaS platform on AWS, driving architectural decisions and guiding technical teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Multi-Tenant AWS Architecture & Strategy:
    • Design and document a comprehensive, secure, scalable, and cost-efficient end-to-end multi-tenant AWS architecture, including multi-account strategy (AWS Organizations, Control Tower) and robust networking solutions.
      • (Example Outcome: Deliver a fully documented multi-tenant AWS architecture design within the first 3 months, approved by all key stakeholders, that meets scalability and security requirements for the initial platform launch.)
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation Leadership:
    • Drive the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ensuring automated tenant account provisioning, and integrating architecture with efficient CI/CD pipelines.
      • (Example Outcome: Oversee the successful automation of tenant account provisioning, reducing manual setup time by 80% within the first 6 months, and establishing robust CI/CD pipelines for core services.)
  • Security, Governance & Cost Optimization:
    • Embed security best practices, define and enforce cloud governance policies, and implement cost-optimization strategies across the AWS platform from inception.
      • (Example Outcome: Establish and enforce cloud security baselines and governance policies that pass initial security audits, and identify/implement cost-saving measures resulting in a 10% reduction in projected cloud spend within the first year.)
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship:
    • Provide clear technical leadership and guidance to DevOps and development teams, making critical architectural decisions and mentoring team members on AWS best practices.
      • (Example Outcome: Successfully guide the initial rapid setup phase, enabling key architectural decisions that keep the project on track and demonstrably improve the AWS proficiency of team members.)

Required Qualifications:

  • Architectural Vision & Design:
    • Ability to envision, design, and document complex, highly available, and scalable cloud architectures, particularly in a multi-tenant context.
  • Deep AWS Expertise:
    • Profound hands-on knowledge across a broad range of AWS services, including:
      • Core Infrastructure & Networking: VPC, Route 53, CloudFront, ALB, API Gateway, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway.
      • Compute & Containers: EC2, ECS Fargate, EKS, Lambda.
      • Storage: S3, EBS, Glacier.
      • Databases: RDS (PostgreSQL), Aurora, DynamoDB.
      • Security & Identity: IAM, Cognito, AWS WAF & Shield, GuardDuty, Inspector, Security Hub, KMS, Secrets Manager, Parameter Store, AWS SSO.
      • Management & Governance: AWS Organizations, AWS Control Tower, CloudFormation, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail.
      • Application Integration & Messaging: EventBridge, SQS, SNS, Step Functions.
      • Developer Tools: CodeCommit, CodeArtifact, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipeline.
      • Cost Management: AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets.
      • Backup & Recovery: AWS Backup, AWS Backup Vault Lock.
      • Generative AI: Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker.
  • Infrastructure Automation (IaC):
    • Strong proficiency in Terraform for provisioning and managing AWS resources, and experience with automating cloud resource provisioning and management.
  • Security First Mindset:
    • Comprehensive knowledge of cloud security best practices, compliance frameworks, and security services, with practical application.
  • Strategic Problem Solving:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of making critical, high-impact architectural decisions quickly.
  • Leadership & Communication:
    • Proven ability to lead technical teams, effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, and mentor junior team members.
  • Cost Consciousness:
    • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement strategies for cloud cost optimization.

Compensation:

Salary is commensurate with experience based on department and role.
