Job description

About the Job:

LaunchDarkly is looking for a seasoned product designer to join our team and take a leading role in shaping the future of LaunchDarkly’s Feature Management and Enterprise product areas.

As a key member of the team, you’ll be responsible for driving the end-to-end user experience strategy across some of our most foundational and high-impact areas. Feature Management is the core of LaunchDarkly’s platform: it is how developers and teams control and iterate on feature rollouts in real time. You’ll work on complex workflows and interaction patterns that need to scale seamlessly for teams ranging from small startups to Fortune 500 enterprises.

At the same time, you’ll help elevate our Enterprise experience, focusing on capabilities like permissions, user management, integrations, and approvals. These capabilities are critical for larger organizations with complex governance needs. You’ll ensure these advanced features are both powerful and usable, balancing security, scalability, and ease of adoption.

You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional peers across product, engineering, research, and data, as well as engage directly with customers to understand their challenges. You’ll be expected to lead through ambiguity, align stakeholders around a shared design vision, and deliver work that’s both thoughtful and pragmatic.

This role is ideal for a designer who thrives in systems thinking, enjoys simplifying complexity, and is excited about influencing the direction of a platform used by thousands of developers around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of end-to-end user experiences (from discovery through delivery and iteration), covering both feature management and enterprise expansion.

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define and shape product strategy with a clear design point of view.

  • Translate complex, technical problem spaces into intuitive, testable UX patterns.

  • Conduct and apply user research, usability testing, and data insights to inform design decisions and product strategy.

  • Deliver high-quality design artifacts (user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity visuals) that balance user needs with technical feasibility.

  • Work with engineering and product partners to ensure high-quality implementation and tight iteration loops.

  • Collaborate deeply with other designers (participating in design critiques and independent reviews) to maintain consistency across the LaunchDarkly platform and contribute to our design system.

  • Advocate for feature management and enterprise user needs in platform-wide discussions and initiatives. Be the trusted voice of the user: you have trong communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others.

  • Mentor other designers and help raise the bar for UX design craft and thinking.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience as a product designer, ideally in technology-forward Enterprise SaaS software.

  • Proficiency with Figma and other modern design tools.

  • A portfolio of shipped work that demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, user-centered design processes, and impactful outcomes (ideally focused on both the Administrator and the Developer personas).

  • While Product Designers at LaunchDarkly own work on the end-to-end design of product experiences, we don’t expect you to be an expert in every skill a designer may possess. You should, however, be strong in two or three areas, and competent at the rest.

  • Lifelong learner, always looking to grow and improve at your craft

  • Able to autonomously handle multiple, complex projects at once

  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbally

  • Great storyteller and presenter of design work

About You:

  • Team-Oriented: You excel at collaborating across the company. You can move easily between business stakeholders, product management and development partners.

  • Great Communicator: You have a natural ability to build relationships with cross-functional team members and are a master of advocating for the best user experience

  • A Believer: You understand that technology can simplify, delight and enhance our lives and hope to build transformative innovation through your career.

  • Startup Mentality: You thrive in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment where you balance multiple projects and can prioritize your work both short and long term.

  • Driven: You are motivated to achieve success both at work and in your personal life.

  • Commercially Aware: You understand how design ties to business objectives, understand target audience profiles and insights, and incorporate these into effective design solutions.

Pay:

Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level 4:

About LaunchDarkly:

Modern software delivery was supposed to be the foundation for a thriving digital business but reality has proven otherwise. Slow, inefficient development cycles, costly outages, and fragmented customer experiences are preventing developers from building their best software. The LaunchDarkly platform helps developers innovate on new features faster while protecting them with a safety valve to instantly rewind when things go wrong. Developers can target product experiences to any customer segment and maximize the business impact of every feature. And by gradually rolling out new application components, they escape nightmare “big-bang” technology migrations.

The LaunchDarkly platform was built to guide engineers to the next frontier of DevOps by:

  • Improving the velocity and stability of software releases, without the fear of end customer outages
  • Delivering targeted experiences by easily personalizing features to customer cohorts
  • Maximizing the business impact of every feature through the ability to experiment and optimize
  • Coordinating the release and optimization of software to provide consistent experiences across mobile platforms and device types
  • Improving the effectiveness and productivity of engineering teams, by providing insights into engineering cadence and stability

At LaunchDarkly, we believe in the power of teams. We’re building a team that is humble, open, collaborative, respectful and kind. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
