Job description
Location: Fully Remote
Schedule: Flexible (5 hours/week)
Compensation: $112 - $120 per hour
About The Role:
Berry Street is a business-in-a-box platform enabling registered dietitians to start and scale private practices that accept health insurance. We provide all of the software needed to run a thriving practice and administrative services like insurance contracting, eligibility verification, customer support, claims billing, and even patient acquisition.
The Opportunity
Berry Street is tackling America’s most comprehensive health crisis: food. More than half of Americans are struggling with their relationship with food, are clinically overweight, or suffer from a chronic condition linked to their diet.
Nutrition therapy is clinically proven to make a difference, and most commercial health insurance plans cover it at $0 out-of-pocket. Berry Street empowers registered dietitians to launch and grow in-network private practices. We’re creating game-changing technology to build America’s largest dietitian network and ensure that anyone can access the help they need.
Since launching in January 2023, we’ve grown to over 1,000 providers on our platform and tens of thousands of patients served, across all 50 states. We’re a Series B company backed by top VCs like Northzone, Sofina, and FJ Labs, as well as angel investors like the founders of Revolut, Spring, Grow Therapy, and Unified Vision.
About the Role
Berry Street Health is seeking a licensed Physician (MD/DO) with active medical licensure in all 50 states to support our growing nutrition care program. This is a fully remote, non-patient-facing role focused on reviewing clinical documentation to determine patient eligibility for Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT). You’ll work asynchronously with our care coordination team to ensure appropriate referrals for patients of all ages. This flexible position requires a minimum commitment of 5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Review patient charts, including intake notes, lab results, and provider documentation, to assess for MNT eligibility
Apply evidence-based clinical criteria and professional judgment to determine when a referral to a Registered Dietitian or nutrition program is appropriate
Document eligibility assessments and referral decisions clearly in the electronic health record
Submit timely referrals for MNT services and communicate decisions to the care team as needed
Collaborate asynchronously with care coordinators and clinicians to clarify documentation or address follow-up questions
Contribute to equitable access to nutritional care for patients across all ages, backgrounds, and clinical needs
Active medical licenses in all 50 states
Ability to commit to a minimum of 5 hours per week
A commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
Fully Remote work with flexible hours
Focus on patient care and leave the administrative work to us
Malpractice insurance provided, including tail coverage
Startup environment focused on real healthcare innovation and disrupting the status quo
