Position Overview:

Arlo Solutions seeks a forward-leaning Data Scientist to support the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) under the Office of the Secretary of Defense. This role is at the intersection of cybersecurity operations and AI-driven product development. You will leverage your expertise in computational mathematics, advanced analytics, and applied data science to design, implement, and maintain dashboards, predictive models, and automated assessment tools that inform critical decision-making.

The role requires working closely with cybersecurity subject matter experts as well as an integrated development team (AI scientists, training specialists, product designers, scrum masters, and program managers) to deliver innovative solutions including cyber dashboards, automated training, and automated cyber assessments.

The ideal candidate is not just fluent in data science theory, but highly skilled in Python, Power BI, Advana, and Databricks, with a strong ability to transform complex data into actionable insights.

Work Location: Hybrid, DC metro area required with minimal travel requirements out of the area. You will need to be able and willing to go into the office as needed and dictated by the customer.

Clearance Requirement: Active Secret clearance or above

Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors:

Data Analytics & Modeling

  • Apply advanced mathematical, statistical, and machine learning techniques to analyze cyber and enterprise datasets.
  • Develop predictive models to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and emerging patterns in cybersecurity operations.
  • Implement ETL processes and maintain clean, structured datasets for analysis.

Visualization & Reporting

  • Build and manage interactive dashboards in Power BI and Advana to support senior leadership decision-making.
  • Create clear, actionable visualizations and reports that bridge technical and non-technical audiences.

Collaboration & Integration

  • Partner with cybersecurity SMEs to translate mission needs into data-driven solutions.
  • Work with the development team (AI scientists, designers, engineers) to integrate data science outputs into product features, dashboards, and training systems.
  • Support knowledge management, governance, and architecture across Teams, SharePoint, and Advana.

Innovation & Improvement

  • Research and apply emerging AI and machine learning approaches for cyber threat detection and assessment automation.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, pipelines, and governance practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in mathematics, Computational Sciences, Data Science, Cybersecurity, or Computer Science.
  • Strong foundation in statistics, probability, linear algebra, and computational modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python (pandas, scikit-learn, numpy, etc.) and SQL.
  • Expert-level skills in Power BI (Power Query, DAX, custom visualizations).
  • Hands-on experience with Advana and Databricks.
  • Experience designing dashboards and visualization tools in a cybersecurity or defense-related environment.
  • Strong communication skills; able to convey complex findings to technical and executive audiences.
  • Active Secret clearance or above required.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with machine learning models for anomaly detection, classification, or threat prediction.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK) and operational security tools (SIEM, threat intel).
  • Experience with agile methodologies and cross-functional collaboration in fast-paced environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and MLOps practices.
