Why Box needs you:

Storage Platform team designs and maintains core services that form the first line of interaction between various protocols (like FTP uploads or email uploads) and Box’s content API stack. Their work directly impacts user experience by managing critical data ingress/egress flows at scale. This team plays an essential role in shaping Box’s future by delivering high-performance distributed systems deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring security and reliability throughout the entire content lifecycle.

Who you are:

  • Ideally, you have over 2 years of experience as a software engineering manager, leading teams responsible for high-scale production services.
  • You possess at least 5 years of professional software development experience, contributing to the development of full-stack web applications and/or distributed systems.
  • You excel at aligning and executing new technical ideas, demonstrating an understanding of best practices.
  • Proven experience in driving effective execution with agile processes in a dynamic environment.
  • A people-oriented leader, capable of modelling and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Exceptional at communicating, passionate about technology and committed to raising the bar.
  • Experience working with distributed teams across different time zones is advantageous.
  • Proficient in English.

Bonus Points:

  • Hands-on experience designing and building cloud-native architecture for AWS, GCP, or similar.
  • Passion for open source and staying abreast of community developments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of experienced engineers in Poland.
  • Define the team’s roadmap, execution plans, and take ownership of project delivery.
  • Develop team members through 1:1s, career planning, coaching discussions, and hiring.
  • Uphold values by building a collaborative, inclusive team focused on customer impact.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence through emphasis on execution, quality, and scale.
  • Organize stand-ups, sprint planning, technical discussions, and manage sprint task statuses.
  • Collaborate with product teams to scope new features, provide project estimates, and inform quarterly commitments.
  • Work with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to ensure the team delivers significant business impact.
  • Manage and coordinate the team’s on-call rotation to ensure timely and effective incident response, actively participate in escalated on-call incidents to provide leadership and support, and drive improvements by addressing recurring issues to minimize disruptions.
  • Represent Box internally and externally.
