An opportunity to take your love of sports to another level. Model, simulate, predict and perfect the outcomes of sports, teams and the players that are involved. This is a great opportunity for a data scientist who enjoys seeing their product become customer facing quickly and efficiently.

About the role

  • Working with an international team of sports modelers to build a range of models to assist with our unique Underdog  business.
  • You will build predictive and simulation models to underpin the pricing of a range of our products across major US sports
  • Analyzing defining and performing on the performance of our models to identify opportunities of improvement.
  • Collaborating with engineering and trading teams on the design, implementation and refinement of models.

Who you are

  • 2+ years of full time experience in a fast-paced financial or similar setting
  • Strong programming skills in Python and R, with experience using libraries such as Pandas, scikit-learn, and TensorFlow
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods and their application in data analysis
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from databases
  • Familiarity with big data tools like Spark and Kafka
  • Understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline design
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

Even better if you have

  • Have experience working as a data scientist in the sports or finance industries.

Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $135,000 and $150,000, plus target equity. The starting base salary will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills and experience, among other things.
