Business Area (BA) Markets maximises the value of Vattenfall’s portfolio by optimising and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall’s assets and sales positions. We offer power purchase agreements to operators of wind or solar parks, optimise 3rd party batteries and enter into origination deals within the B2B segment. We serve as Vattenfall’s single market access to energy commodity markets trading in electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates. We are responsible for generating profits by taking positions within defined risk mandates and limits. We are active across Europe with around 500 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and Denmark.

BU Assets main activities are production planning, optimisation and dispatching of all power assets and hedging of Vattenfall’s overall exposure. We commercially maximise the value of Vattenfall and 3rd party assets delivering substantial impact on the bottom line of the Group.

Planning and Optimisation Nordic is a performance oriented team responsible for maximising Vattenfall’s Nordic hydro-, nuclear-, heat production and consumption portfolio in SPOT and ancillary services markets. Thus we have a key role for the realisation of Vattenfall’s strategy to lead the transition into a sustainable energy system by enabling further integration of renewable energy and new investments in fossil free power.

The role as Asset Planner

This is a hybrid role where you will mix operational work in our Nordic Dispatch Centre with more regular office work. You will be part of a cross functional team of experts focusing on improvements of methods, tools and processes where we are aiming for a high degree of automation and algorithmic decision support to meet the new market demands. If you are not already familiar with the Nordic power market you will get the unique opportunity to learn it from the inside.

We are looking for a candidate that preferably has experience from production planning in general and hydro power in particularly to enable a swift introduction to our business via our Planner-desks before fully taking on also office duties in the seasonal to day ahead process with a special focus on ancillary services. The Planner desks are manned seven days a week 8-16, being responsible for bidding our Nordic Assets to the SPOT and Ancillary Services markets.

Qualifications

  • Relevant University degree and several years of relevant experience from energy markets

  • Programming and data analysis skills

  • Strong command in Swedish and English, both verbally and written

  • Knowledge of models and optimization tools, programming skills in Python and experience of operational production planning as well as knowledge in hydrology are meritorious.
