Job description

About Wing:

Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you’re ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.

About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Aviation Safety Analyst to join our Aviation Safety team. This role will be hybrid based in Palo Alto, California. Your primary responsibility will be leading risk assessments across the Company. This role requires deep collaboration with stakeholders to ensure assessments are thorough and that all hazards are identified. Beyond this core Safety Risk Management work, you will also assist with other SMS components to help drive the continuous improvement and overall effectiveness of the system.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with teams to conduct safety risk assessments on new technologies, operational concepts, and proposed flight environments.
  • Perform change management reviews to ensure new hazards are not introduced and existing safety controls are not compromised.
  • Collaborate daily with stakeholders (including Engineering, Flight Test, Flight Operations, Uncrewed Traffic Management, and more) to ensure risk assessments are accurate and comprehensive.
  • Maintain the central hazard database, updating and adding risk assessments as technology and operations evolve and new data becomes available.
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders to drive continuous improvement of the Safety Risk Management process and its tools.
  • Support other SMS activities (Safety Assurance and Safety Promotion) as needed, such as triaging safety reports, assisting with investigations, and reviewing safety data.

What You’ll Need:

  • 4+ years of experience in a regulated safety environment, preferably in aviation or autonomous systems
  • Demonstrated, hands on experience conducting safety risk assessments for aviation or autonomous systems
  • Deep knowledge of Safety Risk Management principles and methodologies
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with a proven ability to work with technical and operational stakeholders to understand systems and document risk assessments clearly
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in safety analysis, both quantitative and qualitative
  • Thorough understanding of all SMS components
  • The flexibility to adapt to evolving priorities and manage multiple tasks effectively
