As the Accounting Lead, you will take ownership of core accounting operations for a fast-growing, private equity–backed SaaS organization while actively performing daily accounting work. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will provide direction and support to accounting team members, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency across all functions, while personally managing critical accounting tasks. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading by example and combining hands-on execution with the ability to guide and coach others.

We are unified around a virtual-first culture centered on teamwork, relentless focus on client outcomes, and individual accountability.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform and oversee daily accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries, ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
  • Manage and work directly on full-cycle accounts receivable and accounts payable operations, balancing and prioritizing workflows to maintain accurate cash flow and strong vendor/customer relationships.
  • Prepare and review financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow); ensuring accuracy through your own work and the oversight of others.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes while actively performing key closing tasks.
  • Coordinate directly with external auditors; preparing documentation, answering questions, and following up on audit requests.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606, including reviewing contracts, identifying performance obligations, and preparing related journal entries.
  • Assist in developing and refining financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, ensuring they are practical for day-to-day use.
  • Partner with the CFO and Director of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, contributing both analysis and tactical execution.
  • Work closely with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate filings.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the more junior accounting staff, offering direction while working alongside them to meet deadlines.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2+ years in a senior or lead accounting capacity.
  • SaaS industry experience required; private equity-backed company experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with revenue recognition as it relates to a SaaS organization.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (NetSuite highly preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to apply it to practical, day-to-day accounting activities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work hands-on in both accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.

What would make you stand out?

  • Proven experience improving accounting processes while still performing daily transactional work.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members by working alongside them on deliverables.

Additional notes:

  • Preference for candidates based in CST time zone.
  • At this time, we are unable to provide sponsorship for this position.
