Business Development at Crunchbase
As a Business Development Manager at Crunchbase, you’ll own the full new-business lifecycle from sourcing and qualifying prospects to negotiating and launching high-impact partnerships that expand platform reach and drive net-new revenue. Success in this role demands a balance of strategic thinking, rigorous pipeline management, and hands-on execution while rallying cross-functional teams around aggressive growth targets.
What You’ll Do:
- New‑Partner Acquisition: Source, qualify, and prioritize net‑new partners aligned with Crunchbase’s growth strategy; maintain a 3×‑quota pipeline of opportunities.
- Deal Leadership: Structure, negotiate, and close mid‑ to high‑complexity agreements that accelerate revenue and user adoption.
- Market Intelligence: Analyze competitive activity and emerging industry trends to identify untapped market opportunities and guide business development strategy.
- AI-Driven Insights: Utilize AI-powered tools and data platforms to enhance prospecting, optimize outreach strategies, identify growth opportunities, and make data-informed decisions that drive business development efforts.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work with Product, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Success to coordinate partner needs, align efforts, and deliver integrations and co‑marketing motions on schedule.
- Growth Initiatives: Drive new revenue, co‑build, and joint GTM plays within your partner portfolio, collaborating with internal stakeholders from concept to rollout.
- Partner Enablement: Coordinate timelines, documentation, and stakeholder alignment to ensure smooth execution of joint projects, campaigns, and technical integrations.
- Deal Support: Coordinate redlines, contract workflows, and assist with partnership structuring alongside Legal and other stakeholders.
- Process Contribution: Build scalable processes, documentation, and playbooks that improve efficiency and partner experience.
- Performance Monitoring: Track partner KPIs, flag risks or expansion opportunities, and feed insights into ongoing strategy.
- Internal Reporting: Provide concise, data‑backed updates during planning sessions, pipeline reviews, and team updates.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking for:
- Proven track record of prospecting, qualifying, and building an outbound pipeline that consistently meets or exceeds targets.
- Ability to own the full partnership lifecycle with minimal oversight, from first contact through launch and ongoing expansion.
- Expert at structuring creative, win-win agreements and navigating complex redline cycles.
- Skilled in building models, dashboards, and narratives that keep leadership aligned on pipeline health and revenue impact.
- Adept at synthesizing market intelligence and competitive research into actionable strategy.
- Capable of spotting scalable growth levers and translating them into go-to-market plays.
- Familiar with leveraging AI-driven tools and platforms (e.g., predictive analytics, market intelligence, CRM automation) to support strategic decision-making and accelerate business development outcomes.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communicator who can build compelling business cases and influence at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills and experience creating playbooks and workflows that scale.
- Comfort with data analysis, financial modeling, and structured problem solving.
- Experienced user of CRM (e.g., Salesforce), data analytics platforms, and Google Workspace.
- Demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-changing environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of business development experience in B2B technology.
- Experience in SaaS, startup environments, and API/Developer Platforms.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Salary Range
$140,522—$165,320 USD
