About Evidence Action

At Evidence Action, we deliver data-driven interventions that transform lives at an unprecedented scale. We identify neglected global health issues and deploy proven solutions, forging healthier futures for generations.

Our model operationalizes leading academic research (including from Nobel-winning economists). We measure progress and outcomes at every stage to ensure we’re making a real impact for people living in poverty and suffering from preventable or treatable health issues. Operating across 9 countries, our team of 800+ has reached over 500 million people, working closely with governments to scale these interventions.

  • Our Deworm the World program has delivered over 2 billion treatments, significantly reducing worm prevalence and generating more than $23 billion in lifetime productivity gains.
  • Through Safe Water Now, we’ve saved the lives of over 15,000 children.
  • Our Accelerator explores untapped opportunities in global health, testing low-cost interventions with the greatest potential to save and improve lives.

At Evidence Action, your colleagues are your greatest asset. You’ll partner with high-caliber colleagues in an environment blending innovation, autonomy, and teamwork. Our team excels in disruptive thinking and believes in rolling up our sleeves to get things done. If you’re looking to work flexibly and with purpose, join a team that delivers measurable change for millions.

About the Team

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Accelerator and Programs, you will support a diverse portfolio of at-scale and emerging program areas: Safe Water Now; Syphilis-Free Start, the Accelerator, as well as cross cutting support to the department and special projects.

  • Safe Water Now: Delivers innovative and scalable chlorination-based water treatment to more than 9 million people in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, and India, leveraging diverse delivery models.
  • Syphilis-Free Start: Targets mother-to-child transmission of syphilis by partnering with governments to implement cost-effective dual HIV/syphilis screening and treatment solutions within existing maternal health systems, saving newborn lives.
  • Accelerator: Identifies and scales new Evidence Action programs using a rigorous, six-stage assessment process to ensure potential interventions are evidence-backed, highly cost-effective, and scalable.

We’re currently conducting 5 program pilots and scoping expansion into new countries. You will support strategic priorities across the department, focusing on areas with the highest importance and need. Projects will be dynamic and flexible based on the priorities of the organization.

Position Location

There is flexibility on location within the United States in Eastern or Central timezones, with a preference for this role to be based in Washington DC with ~15% of travel. Locations outside the United States would be considered on a case-by-case basis. This role can be fully remote, and because we collaborate closely with teams in Africa and India, some workdays may include early morning hours to align across time zones. We aim to support flexibility and balance wherever possible.

You Will:

  • Department Management (35%): You will facilitate regular leadership and team meetings, including the annual department retreat, and lead initiatives to improve our ~30 person department’s operational systems and working norms. You will be a close thought partner to the Executive Vice President, Accelerator and Programs, providing important input into department-wide strategic decisions.

  • Department-wide Special Projects (30%): You will project manage complex workstreams, with potential responsibilities encompassing change management, quantitative analysis, and strategic planning. Specific projects will vary with evolving priorities and are likely to include sustained, long-term strategy projects, recurring topics, and short-term critical projects. Examples of this are:

    • Support the development of our annual Objectives and Key Results, tracking performance, and ensuring coordination
    • Support research and preparation for priority donor engagements
    • Strategic recruiting efforts, including process development, sourcing, and onboarding
    • Supporting organization-wide projects on behalf of the department, by liaising on projects like using Artificial Intelligence in our work, updating knowledge management protocols, and updating our Learning and Development policies
    • Develop executive-level communication materials, including for senior Evidence Action leadership, the board, and external donors
  • Flex Program Support (35%): As needs arise, you will provide surge support to program teams to support our work. This will shift according to organizational priorities. This work may involve quantitative/analytic support, with a focus on areas of program growth (like pilots and new country expansion.) Past examples have included quantitative support in initial program coverage estimates, recruitment of the first few team members, and leading procurement processes in early-stage geographies.

  • You have a bachelors and 2 - 5 years of management consulting experience or similar quantitative/analytics experience; with interest in working with nonprofits, international partners, international development, or public health.

  • You manage multi-stakeholder projects through their life cycles and multiple projects simultaneously, even with dynamic priorities and a matrixed environment.

  • You can perform advanced quantitative analysis and effectively communicate with both technical and general audiences.

  • You thrive in ambiguous environments and are willing to “wear different hats” and take on a variety of tasks, big and small, to adapt and reprioritize effectively.

  • You are able to develop executive-level materials tailored to donors and other internal and external stakeholders.

  • You can foster collaboration and communication among cross-cutting teams to drive program success while incorporating multiple perspectives from diverse backgrounds.

  • You have a passion for the mission of Evidence Action and for creating value in international development!
