About CDC Foundation
We are the CDC Foundation, an independent nonprofit established by Congress in 1992. We support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. public health system by bringing together philanthropic and private-sector resources. Our work aims to protect global health and safety.
Since 1995, we have launched over 1,450 successful programs and raised more than $2 billion. In the past year, we managed hundreds of programs across the U.S. and in over 90 countries. These programs tackle various health threats, including chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease and cancer, infectious diseases such as rotavirus, HIV, malaria, Ebola, and Zika, and emergency responses like COVID-19. We also work to improve national public health infrastructure, speed up data modernization (e.g., through the Workforce Advancement Initiative, WAI), and support overdose surveillance, prevention, and response (e.g., through Overdose Data to Action, OD2A). Our mission is to help the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) save and improve lives. We do this by encouraging collaboration among the CDC, philanthropies, corporations, organizations, and individuals to protect the health and safety of America and the world.
