Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia, but we engage our Contractors and Freelancers all over the world to help us meet our crazy big goals. This is a remote role based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales, change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
You’ll be working at the intersection of community and international growth. The Community team at Canva works across various markets through a talented team of best-in-class Community Managers.
As a Community Manager in Malaysia, you’ll work closely with our cross-functional Malaysia team to contribute to Canva’s brand love in-market, owning your community’s growth from ideation to execution
At the moment, this role is focused on:
- Own the growth & development of our community programs and online groups in Malaysia
- Foster a vibrant and positive community atmosphere in the groups you oversee
- Being active daily in your groups, responding promptly to community inquiries, comments, and concerns
- Conceptualise and develop initiatives to support local marketing strategies and campaigns, including maintaining a local content calendar
- Grow, nurture, and inspire a countrywide network of brand advocates
- Partner with local schools & education organisations to share Canva’s powerful suite of tools for educators
- Host webinars and in-person workshops for teachers, education professionals, and creatives
- Participate and drive the community participation in local conferences and events
- Work alongside the global and regional community team to localise campaigns that create cultural connections and deliver against our business goals
- Translate global assets into the local language
- Regularly collaborate with the local cross-functional team to ensure we are on track with market goals
- Creating periodic reports and keeping track of KPIs to assess the impact of community initiatives and opportunities for growth
You’re probably a match if
- You have proven experience in community management or a related field, with a track record of growing and engaging a successful community. A big bonus if you have experience working within the education sector!
- You have experience with community management tools (Canva, Facebook Groups, Discord, Hubspot, Mailchimp, Monday.com, Google Suite, Looker)
- You are a creative thinker with hands-on experience creating content for brands with video editing skills
- You’re a fountain of knowledge when it comes to social platforms, video content, viral campaigns, emerging conversations, brands and social insights
- You have an analytical mindset with the ability to develop an in-depth understanding of Canva’s audiences and confident in making data-driven decisions
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and driving alignment between your key stakeholders
- You have a knack for problem-solving, getting your hands dirty in identifying new opportunities and continuous improvements
- You have excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills, the ability to manage complex and competing priorities
- You have the ability to manage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- You can balance the big picture with short term needs and initiatives
- You’re a self-starter with tenacity for execution and delivery, with ability to adapt quickly to market trends and business priorities
- Full proficiency in English and Malay.
