These challenges could involve managing emotions, challenging negative thinking, and reducing stress and anxiety.
We are looking for a full-time, Controller passionate about whole-person, whole-family mental health care to join our team. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Controller to oversee our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance within a startup environment, experience closing books, and managing a team. Knowledge and experience in the healthcare sector, particularly in mental health care delivery, will be highly advantageous. This role requires a team player with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Manage and lead the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial activities.
- Prepare and close monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and safeguard company assets.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Manage external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Utilize Sage Intacct for financial reporting and analysis.
- Support fundraising activities and investor relations by providing accurate financial information and analysis.
- Monitor and manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Qualifications:
- CPA certification is required.
- Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role, preferably within a startup environment.
- Strong experience in closing books and managing financial statements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
- Experience working in the healthcare sector; experience in mental health care delivery is a plus.
- Proficiency in using Sage Intacct or similar accounting software.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Preference for candidates based in the Midwest (Madison, Minneapolis, Chicago).

The salary range for United States residents is $140k to $180k per year + Bonus. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Bend Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
