Your Mission

As a Deputy MLRO at Bitpanda, your mission is to support the MLRO in ensuring a robust and effective AML/CTF compliance framework that meets BaFin and MiCAR regulatory standards. You will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial crime risks, ensuring the company maintains the highest compliance standards while enabling business growth.

By proactively monitoring transactions, conducting due diligence, and assisting in regulatory reporting, you will help strengthen our financial crime prevention efforts. Your work will ensure that Bitpanda remains a trusted and compliant player in the crypto and fintech industry, fostering a culture of integrity, transparency, and risk awareness.

What You’ll Do:

• Support AML/CTF Compliance – Assist in maintaining and enhancing AML/CTF frameworks, including policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
• Transaction & Blockchain Monitoring – Help review transactions and blockchain activity, investigating alerts and escalating potential risks.
• Suspicious Activity Reporting (SARs) – Assist in preparing and submitting SARs to relevant authorities (e.g., FIU) and maintaining records.
• Customer Due Diligence (CDD/KYC) – Support customer onboarding and ongoing monitoring, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Reporting & Controls - support the MLRO on regular reporting to management and conduct controls on current processes to ensure the highest standards
• Training & Awareness – Assist in delivering internal AML/CTF training programs and fostering a strong compliance culture.

Who You Are:

• AML/CTF Compliance Experience – You have experience in AML, compliance, or financial crime prevention, ideally within crypto, fintech, or financial services.
• Regulatory Knowledge – You have a strong understanding of BaFin regulations, the German Money Laundering Act (GwG), and MiCAR always bearing in mind the importance of scaling up processes
• Analytical and Detail-Oriented – You can assess AML risks, review policies, and analyse transactions with precision and ensure regulatory coverage
• Proactive & Willing to Learn – You are eager to expand your expertise and support the MLRO in ensuring compliance and enable the business with a hands-on approach. You are willing and able to act operational if needed
• Strong Communicator – You can effectively engage with internal teams, regulators, and external stakeholders in both German and English.

Please note, this role can be fully remote from anywhere in Germany.
