Job description
Who are we?
IOG is a technology company focused on blockchain research and development. We are renowned for our scientific approach to blockchain development, emphasizing peer-reviewed research and formal methods to ensure security, scalability, and sustainability.
Our projects include the Cardano blockchain, as well as other products in the areas of decentralized finance (DeFi), governance, and identity management, aiming to advance the capabilities and adoption of blockchain technology globally.
About Midnight:
Midnight is a cutting-edge, privacy-focused blockchain network designed to empower developers with zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. Our mission is to create an ecosystem where developers can build secure, scalable, and privacy-preserving applications with ease. Education is a core pillar of our developer experience, and we are looking for a Developer Education Manager to lead our efforts in educating and onboarding developers into the Midnight ecosystem.
What the role involves:
As a Stake Pool Operator (SPO) Relations Engineer for Midnight Network, you’ll focus on building deep, trusted relationships with SPOs and infrastructure operators - supporting their success, amplifying their contributions, and bridging their needs into our protocol roadmap. This role is equal parts technical support, infrastructure education, and community advocacy.
You’ll work closely with the DevRel Lead, Engineering, Product, and the wider community to ensure SPOs have the guidance, tools, and documentation they need to run performant nodes, participate in testnets, and build reliable services on Midnight.
- Community Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with block producers, SPOs, developers, and other ecosystem participants to drive adoption and collaboration.
- Tooling Development: Design, build, and maintain scripts, dashboards, configuration templates, and monitoring resources to support SPOs and testnet validators.
- Content Creation: Develop high-quality technical documentation, tutorials, blog posts, videos, and other content to educate and inspire the community (including runbooks, CLI guides, setup walk-throughs, upgrade tutorials, and security best practices).
- Ecosystem Support: Provide technical guidance and support to block producers, SPOs, and developers, addressing their needs and challenges.
- Event & Advocacy: Organize and participate in hackathons, webinars, workshops, and community events to promote Midnight Network and engage with the community.
- Feedback Loop: Gather feedback from the community to inform protocol improvements, tooling enhancements, and ecosystem strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the DevRel team, Product, and Engineering teams to align community initiatives with protocol goals.
Who you are
- Experience: 4+ years in Developer Relations, Site Reliability, Infrastructure Engineering, or Technical Community roles within the blockchain, Web3, or tech industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with programming (e.g., Rust, JavaScript/ Typescript, or similar) and familiarity with blockchain protocols, smart contracts, or decentralized systems.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating technical content (e.g., docs, tutorials, blogs).
- Community Building: Proven ability to engage and grow technical communities, with a passion for fostering collaboration.
- Blockchain Knowledge: Understanding of blockchain ecosystems, staking mechanisms, and decentralized governance.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide actionable solutions for community members.
- A passion for blockchain technology and community-driven ecosystems.
- A proactive, creative mindset to develop tools and content that resonate with developers and contributors.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives and community touchpoints.
- Empathy and patience to support diverse community members, from novice developers to experienced SPOs.
Nice to Have
- Prior involvement in the Cardano ecosystem or with stake pool operations
- Contributions to open-source infrastructure tooling
- Experience with running testnets or orchestrating community validator incentives
This might be a great fit if you…
- Have operated a validator or stake pool on a decentralized network.
- Are fluent in uptime, observability, logs, and debugging infra under pressure.
- Can explain complex node operations in simple, repeatable ways.
- Like solving real-world infra challenges through tooling or scripts.
- Take pride in empowering others and being the calm, trusted voice in noisy situations.
