This is a rare opportunity to have a foundational impact at a rapidly scaling company. This position is ideally based in San Francisco or near another Fastly office and will report to the Chief Legal Officer, who is in San Francisco.
What You’ll Do

- Evaluate current team processes and identify, design, and implement strategic operational solutions (both big and small) to eliminate inefficiency of high-volume, manual tasks and drive scale
- Proactively collect, analyze and synthesize data for informed and strategic decision-making
- Implement Fastly’s new contract lifecycle management solution, Ironclad, for both procurement and sales-related contracts
- Manage the Legal Team budget in partnership with the Chief Legal Officer; coordinate closely with Finance and senior leadership to anticipate budget needs and changes throughout the fiscal year
- Track and manage Legal Team priorities and projects, including development of, and tracking and reporting on, related metrics
- Research, recommend and implement new and better legal technology to address team and business needs, including tools that can integrate with Salesforce and Coupa
- Re-invent knowledge management for the Legal Team to optimize our playbooks, records, templates and intranet sites and maintain them going forward
- Manage all Legal third-party vendor relationships, including new engagements, renewals and strategic negotiations
- Manage Fastly’s outside counsel billing platform, SimpleLegal, onboard new firms, and create and manage matters, accruals and invoice processing
- Own all purchase requests/purchase orders for the Legal Team
- Manage company-wide Legal trainings, including creating, distributing, and reporting on active training modules
- Assist with Fastly’s Legal hold processes in partnership with IT and other Legal team members
- Manage Fastly’s eDiscovery platform, ONNA
What We’re Looking For
- 12+ years of legal operations experience, especially at high-growth tech companies, covering all aspects of legal operations (i.e., contract management, knowledge management, change management, e-Discovery, e-Billing, budgeting and forecasting, etc.)
- Proven ability to independently build, re-design and implement long-term, scalable legal operational programs and processes
- Robust experience in implementing and using legal technology solutions and leading a legal operations function
- Demonstrated skills presenting data in a creative, thoughtful and effective manner to drive better decisions
- A self-starter who makes independent progress on complex projects and exercises excellent judgment in raising issues and when collaborating
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and to successfully manage multiple projects to completion across many different lines of communication
- A pragmatic and practical problem solver and ability to assess, prioritize and execute on critical priorities
- Experience with Salesforce.com and contract lifecycle management systems
- Strong collaboration and communication skills and enthusiasm for contributing to the broader team and organization
- BA/BS from an accredited institution
We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:
- Implementation and maintenance of Ironclad or other CLM tools
- Strategic adoption of generative AI tools within a Legal organization
