Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Data Operations and Strategy to lead and transform our organization’s data operations, governance, and strategic initiatives. In this leadership role, you will oversee data infrastructure, ensure the scalability and reliability of data systems, and define strategies to maximize the value of data in achieving business objectives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish a data-driven culture, champion best practices, and deliver insights that empower decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Lead and Implement the organization’s data strategy, aligning with overall business objectives.
  • Drive the adoption of data as a strategic asset, fostering a data-driven decision-making culture.
  • Identify emerging trends in data technologies and translate them into actionable initiatives.

2. Data Operations Management

  • Oversee data infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Establish and refine processes for data ingestion, transformation, and integration across diverse sources.
  • Implement robust monitoring systems to ensure the reliability and quality of data pipelines.

3. Governance and Compliance

  • Develop and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to security, privacy, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Oversee data cataloging, lineage tracking, and metadata management to improve data discoverability.
  • Ensure appropriate role-based access controls and data security protocols.

4. Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with cross functional leadership and teams to prioritize initiatives.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, fostering innovation and professional development.

5. Business Partnership

  • Partner with business leaders to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language for stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary advocate for data initiatives, driving alignment across departments.

6. Performance Optimization and Cost Management

  • Manage budgets for data operations, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Continuously evaluate tools, platforms, and processes to optimize operational performance and costs.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of data initiatives.

Qualifications

Must-Have Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior data leadership role, managing data operations, strategy, or governance.
  • Strong understanding of data architectures, including cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake), and ETL/ELT tools.
  • Expertise in data governance, compliance, and privacy regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to align data strategies with business goals and deliver measurable results.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience building and scaling data teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Hands-on experience with advanced analytics or AI/ML integration.
  • Certifications in data management or cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) and their role in driving business insights.

Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in data operations, strategy, or a similar role, with 3+ years in a leadership capacity.
