We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Director of Engineering, Advertising Technology to join our Product Team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the engineering strategy for advertising technology platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals, product priorities, and revenue growth.
  • Lead architecture and technical direction across core components including ad serving systems, real time bidding (RTB), programmatic pipelines, and audience data platforms.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to enhance scale, reduce latency, and optimize performance across the advertising stack.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow multiple engineering teams including managers and senior developers while fostering a high performance, inclusive, and feedback driven culture.
  • Define and lead the engineering hiring strategy by designing effective, scalable interview processes, partnering with People/HR on headcount planning, and optimizing for value to cost talent acquisition.
  • Establish clear KPIs to measure engineering quality, team health, and delivery effectiveness across projects and squads.
  • Own the end to end execution of complex engineering initiatives, from planning and prioritization through to delivery, ensuring timelines and technical quality are met.
  • Partner cross functionally with Product, Data Science, Sales, and Analytics to translate business needs into scalable advertising tools and user facing features.
  • Act as a senior stakeholder in quarterly and annual planning, balancing rapid product iteration with long term architectural health and technical sustainability.
  • Own the technical strategy and delivery of ad decisioning engines, auction logic, targeting systems, and campaign delivery infrastructure.
  • Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and low latency architecture for mission critical advertising services operating at web scale.
  • Drive modernization efforts through adoption of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), microservices, and cloud native platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP).
  • Oversee the design and operation of data pipelines powering audience segmentation, measurement, attribution, and reporting.
  • Ensure all engineering practices and systems meet global privacy standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and internal security and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, and Compliance stakeholders to stay ahead of changing regulatory landscapes in advertising technology.
  • Manage the engineering budget across staffing, infrastructure, and vendor services, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and investment in key capabilities.
  • Evaluate and negotiate with external vendors across ad tech tooling, data enrichment, measurement, fraud detection, and infrastructure services.
  • Stay ahead of trends in advertising technology including first party data strategies, privacy first targeting, and ML optimization and drive internal innovation accordingly.
  • Represent engineering leadership in executive forums, cross functional planning, industry events, and technical community engagements.

Skills Requirements

Education Requirements: Must have at least a 2-year post-secondary credential in software engineering, computer science, technology or a related field.

Work Experience Requirement: Must have at least 7 years of verifiable work experience in software or web development, including at least 3 years in a senior engineering management or technical leadership role; Must have prior experience overseeing the design and operation of high-scale advertising technology platforms.

Skills Requirements:

  • Demonstrated work history and technical expertise in managing engineering teams working with modern JavaScript (Node.js, React), Python, or JVM-based technologies
  • Demonstrated work experience architecting and scaling distributed systems in cloud environments such as AWS or GCP
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of advertising technology platforms including ad serving, programmatic bidding, data pipelines, or user targeting
  • Demonstrated expertise with containerization (Docker), orchestration tools (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines
  • Demonstrated understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and how they apply to advertising systems
  • Demonstrated work history in mentoring engineers and growing high-performing technical teams

As part of the screening process, candidates will be asked to participate in an online programming assessment through TestDome to demonstrate specific technical competency in relevant areas.
