SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Director of R&D to lead America-based teams in the field of full stack mapping focused engineering and will own our mapping infrastructures. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our product’s development and user experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, train and manage a team of star full stack engineers.
- Manage and technically lead America based teams in the field of full stack engineering.
- Lead the architecture, design and development of our mapping infrastructure.
- Technically interface with a large number of teams, and provide mapping services for our Dashboards, customer reports and, partners (as embedded widgets).
- Participate in the development of our long term product vision
- Collaborate with product managers, and be close to our business requirements and business needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience of several years in full stack engineering, focused on user experience of large scale data display systems.
- Proven ability to recruit, train and maintain star developers in America.
- Leader, technical mentor and a people manager with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Hands-on manager, who loves to write and review code, with hands-on experience in recent full-stack / front-end mapping technologies.
- Strong coding skills and a “get-things-done” approach
- Ability to Engineer, design and develop large scale, high performance mapping components.
- Extensive experience in designing and building scalable frontend infrastructure, easily maintained and extended.
- Critical / First principle thinking - able to identify root causes of issues and tightly collaborate with all parts of the organization.
- Familiarity with recent technologies in the Full-stack / Front-end domain
NICE TO HAVE EXPERIENCE:
- Hands-on experience with Mapbox infrastructure.
- Experience with data related technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Python, Scala, NoSQL and analytical databases.
- Experience with a cloud platform: GCP (preferred), AWS or Azure.
- Experience in data analytic and data analysis.
- Hebrew speaking skills.

The U.S. annualized pay range for this position is $220,000-$270,000 USD. In addition, certain roles have the opportunity to earn sales-based commissions. Base pay offered within the stated range may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job-related skills, professional experience, education and licenses (if applicable), work location and compensation market data.
Base pay is just a part of our total rewards program. Placer provides medical, dental and vision coverage as well as flexible time off, 401K and equity awards for certain roles.
