About this Role
Fandom is growing! As Director Social Strategy & Operations, you’ll lead the vision, execution, and innovation of social media across Fandom’s brand portfolio (GameSpot, TV Guide, Metacritic, Screen Junkies, and Fandom’s core channels). This role balances creative excellence, community resonance, and monetization opportunities – leading a high-performing internal team while integrating deeply with Editorial, Branded Content, Video, and Revenue teams.
You’ll bring structure to our social operations while pushing innovation in platform-native storytelling, real-time engagement, and fan-first content strategy.
You Will…
- Social Strategy & Execution: Define and execute Fandom’s social media vision across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, and emerging platforms. Ensure alignment between editorial voice, fandom trends, and brand storytelling. Lead planning and execution of organic and real-time campaigns that resonate with fans
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and scale an agile team of social media strategists, creators, and community leads. Develop content playbooks, workflows, calendars, and performance cadences. Create a strong feedback and coaching culture for continuous growth
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with our media brand leaders to build highly engaged social channels that maintain the brand voice and identity of our brands while optimizing for uniqueness of distributed platforms. Work closely with Video teams to maximize the reach of our production investments. Partner with Marketing and Sales to advise on best practices for branded and sponsored programs which also drive fan engagement.
- Revenue & Branded Content Integration: Collaborate with Affiliate Commerce, Revenue, GTM, AMs, and PMs to support affiliate commerce organic and paid social needs, branded campaigns and native social sponsorships. Coordinate paid social efforts with organic output to amplify branded storytelling and affiliate commerce. Drive campaign coordination and rollout alignment across functions
- Performance, Optimization & Trends: Establish clear KPIs and continuously optimize strategy based on data, fan insights, and platform analytics. Stay ahead of trends in creator culture, short-form experimentation, and fan-led engagement formats

- Audience growth and engagement KPIs are met or exceeded across platforms.
- Direct reports show measurable progression in output quality, collaboration, and performance
- Social campaigns are tightly integrated across editorial and branded teams
- Team workflows are well-structured, documented, and executed with minimal escalation needs
You Have…
- 10+ years in social media and digital content, including experience leading teams
- 3+ years managing teams of 3 or more full-time employees
- Proven ability to provide clear direction, develop others, and support performance and engagement using feedback and coaching
- A sharp editorial voice and deep fluency in meme, gaming, and fandom culture
- Experience integrating earned and paid social strategies
- Data literacy with ability to interpret performance and shift strategy accordingly

- Prior experience with influencer partnerships or content licensing
- Background in entertainment, gaming, or youth-focused brands
- Ability to represent Fandom in partner or press settings
