Zearn

We launched in 2012 to create Zearn Math, a K-8 math learning platform used by elementary and middle school students nationwide. Our platform provides over 1,000 digital lessons, grounded in research, that cover K-8 math objectives. We also provide curriculum and digital lessons to help teachers.

Zearn Math is an online program that offers instructional videos led by on-screen teachers, visual models, and digital manipulatives. Every lesson combines paper-and-pencil problem solving and uses a concrete-to-pictorial-to-abstract teaching approach. The program includes built-in differentiated support for students. It works as a complete curriculum or can be integrated with existing ones.

One in four elementary school students and over 1 million middle school students across the country use Zearn Math. Evidence for ESSA rated us “Strong” (Tier 1) for impact, showing students gain 11 weeks of math learning with our digital lessons. Zearn Math was developed by teachers. We offer free access to our digital lessons and instructional materials for individual teachers, supporting up to 35 students per classroom.

Our mission is to inspire children to love learning math. We believe every child is a “math kid,” and as a nonprofit, we aim to ensure everyone has access to an excellent education. Our core principles guide us:

• Math is a few big ideas: We guide children to master core math concepts so they can tackle diverse problems.

As a nonprofit, we share data from millions of students using our platform to advance numeracy for all.

We are a team of 51-200 teachers, software developers, and designers. We cultivate a collaborative, mission-driven culture focused on creating rigorous, supportive, and engaging math learning and teaching experiences. Our team works remotely across multiple states, emphasizing a growth mindset and strong collaboration.
