Job Summary: The Director - Total Rewards will lead the strategy, design, and execution of our compensation, benefits, and recognition programs to attract, retain, and engage top talent. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leadership, ensuring our total rewards philosophy is competitive, equitable, and aligned with business goals. The Director will oversee all aspects of compensation and benefits—both strategic and operational—while fostering a culture of fairness, transparency, and performance.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Business Hours. While primarily a remote position, employee is required to attend bi-monthly in office cadence. From time to time, additional in-person team meetings may be required as well.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement total rewards strategies that align with the SDG’s goals and objectives.
- This position supervises the Benefits Analyst position and oversees the management of all employees in the compensation department, as these roles are added to the organization over time.
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of benefits and compensation programs:
- Oversee benefits design, drive benefits communication and enrollment. Resolve problems, monitor benefits costs (including claims management and utilization) and direct submission of required benefits forms to government agencies.
- Oversee the leave management program to ensure employee satisfaction and timely salary reimbursement in accordance with local regulations.
- Oversee the worker’s compensation program.
- Develop and maintain a company-wide salary administration process that includes compensation plan design, job descriptions and analysis, market pricing, incentive programs, and other rewards and recognition programs across the organization, including the support of the provider compensation (productivity) program.
- Monitor programs to ensure cost-effectiveness, internal equity, external competitiveness and compliance with company policies and government regulations. Work with finance to ensure accurate estimates, forecasts, accruals and calculations for budget planning and tracking.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the total rewards programs and make recommendations for improvements.
- Provide compensation and benefits consultation and recommendations to senior management, clients, and human resources staff.
- Manage compensation and benefits broker and vendor relationships and negotiate contracts with external partners.
- Co-lead SDG’s Philanthropy initiative by participating on the Schweiger Cares committee, reporting on progress and activities, and ensuring compliance with 501©(3) guidelines.
- Develop and implement recognition and other employee programs to drive employee engagement and retention.
- Work closely with HR business partners and other stakeholders to ensure that total rewards programs are integrated into broader HR and business strategies.
- Develop and deliver communications and training on total rewards programs to employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in benefits, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role.
- SHRM-CP preferred; CEBS preferred.
- Deep knowledge of benefits best practices, trends, and regulations.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and prioritize competing demands.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
Salary Pay Range
$150,000—$160,000 USD
