Job description

Who are we?

IOG, is a technology company focused on blockchain research and development. We are renowned for our scientific approach to blockchain development, emphasizing peer-reviewed research and formal methods to ensure security, scalability, and  sustainability. Our projects include the Cardano blockchain, as well as other products in the areas of decentralized finance (DeFi), governance, and identity management, aiming to advance the capabilities and adoption of blockchain and Web3 technology globally.

We invest in the unknown, applying our curiosity and desire for positive change to everything we do. By fueling creativity, innovation, and progress within our teams, our products and services are designed for people to be fearless, to be changemakers.

What the role involves:

As an experienced Ecosystem Communications Lead, you will be a cross-functional communicator and storyteller who deeply understands how Web3 communities operate, how developers engage with infrastructure, and how ecosystems grow through open dialogue and shared purpose.

This role demands an effective and empathetic communicator, skilled at translating complex technical topics into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences—including community members, governance bodies, and industry stakeholders.

With a well-organized and methodical approach, combined with a keen eye for detail and a creative mindset, this role goes beyond traditional corporate communications. It orchestrates information across a decentralized landscape, ensuring critical insights, developments, and opportunities flow transparently to and from the ecosystem in ways that inspire action, build trust, and foster innovation.

The Ecosystem Communications Lead is responsible for clearly reporting on key ecosystem milestones, particularly those aligned with community-agreed roadmaps, governance proposals, or treasury-funded initiatives. This includes designing and implementing internal and external communications frameworks that promote the free, structured, and transparent exchange of information across teams, stakeholders, and the wider community.

Information Flow & Listening:

  • Ensure a consistent, open, and reciprocal flow of information between internal teams and the broader ecosystem—developers, validators, partners, and builders.
  • Act as an internal advocate for community and developer needs, trends, and sentiments—translating external signals into actionable insights for product, research, and leadership teams.
  • Set up lightweight internal reporting and signal-sharing frameworks to ensure key insights, challenges, and roadmap progress are surfaced in a timely and actionable way.

Content & Storytelling:

  • Create clear, engaging written content—including ecosystem updates, blogs, dev spotlights, project explainers, and technical storytelling pieces.
  • Develop approachable technical explainers for general audiences, helping non-technical stakeholders understand complex Web3 concepts, tools, and developments.
  • Translate complex engineering and research milestones into community-facing narratives that showcase real-world progress and innovation.
  • Use ecosystem and platform data to surface compelling stories, ecosystem trends, and adoption milestones.
  • Develop and promote thought leadership content that aligns with the company’s mission and values.
  • Ensure developer-facing content includes clear signposts to relevant documentation, SDKs, GitHub repos, and other resources—supporting self-directed exploration and onboarding.

AI-Enhanced Content Creation:

  • Use AI tools to enhance productivity, support content ideation, assist in summarizing complex materials, and streamline content workflows.
  • Leverage AI to generate ecosystem insights from structured and unstructured data and to personalize content delivery across segments and geographies.
  • Stay current on the evolving AI toolstack to improve storytelling, audience engagement, and real-time responsiveness.

Community & Media Activation:

  • Help host and program X (Twitter) Spaces, AMAs, technical webinars, and community roundtables that showcase voices from across the ecosystem.
  • Oversee production and distribution of podcasts and video content relevant to ecosystem projects and announcements.
  • Collaborate with ecosystem partners and community contributors to amplify shared success stories and encourage cross-project visibility and cooperation.

Strategic Comms Planning:

  • Work with developer relations, product, and ecosystem teams to coordinate communication campaigns around new launches, grants, partnerships, and proposals.
  • Own the narrative and communications cadence for ecosystem-centric initiatives like hackathons, governance updates, and educational series.
  • Design reporting mechanisms that make it easier to track and publicly communicate progress against community-funded or roadmap-aligned deliverables.
  • Define and track clear KPIs to measure awareness, reach, and engagement with ecosystem content—using insights to guide ongoing improvement and experimentation.
  • Support awareness-building around our education programs—developing campaigns and content that drive interest in courses, grow enrollment, and position the ecosystem as a hub for high-quality learning.
  • Drive “always-on” communications—ensuring a steady, reliable flow of updates, signals, and insights across channels to build trust, reduce information gaps, and sustain community momentum.

Editorial & Creative Oversight:

  • Commission and edit content from internal contributors, external collaborators, and partners.
  • Guide tone, clarity, and consistency across ecosystem channels including blogs, newsletters, podcasts, social media, and video.
  • Help evolve the editorial voice of the ecosystem—one that is smart, principled, clear, and inclusive.

The above list of responsibilities is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation.

Who you are:

  • 3–6 years of experience in communications, editorial, developer relations, or Web3 community roles.

  • Background in journalism, media, or research-intensive content development.

  • Previous work with developer tools, SDKs, or protocol-layer infrastructure.

  • Prior experience contributing to or engaging with DAOs, L1/L2 ecosystems, or open-source communities.

  • Experience with multimedia content workflows (audio/video production, livestreaming tools, editing platforms).

  • Proficiency with generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, Runway, Notion AI, etc.) and an understanding of their role in augmenting communications workflows.

  • Proven ability to translate complex technical topics into accessible narratives for general and mixed audiences.

  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with a portfolio of content that resonates across technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong collaborative mindset-able to work across product, dev rel, marketing, and community functions.

  • Deep understanding of Web3 culture, governance models, and the open-source developer ecosystem.

  • Strong familiarity with technical and Web3 terminology; while a deep engineering background is not required, the curiosity to learn, ability to understand and skills to explain technical concepts is essential.

  • Experience hosting or coordinating live events (X Spaces, webinars, podcasts, etc.).

  • Familiarity with community analytics, engagement metrics, or ecosystem dashboards to inform content direction.

  • Remote work

  • Laptop reimbursement

  • New starter package to buy hardware essentials (headphones, monitor, etc)

  • Learning & Development opportunities

  • Competitive PTO
