Job Position: Email Marketing Lead (with Klaviyo expertise)

Work Arrangement: Fully Remote

Job Type: Full-time, Independent Contractor

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 AM – 5 PM EST

About the Company:

Our client allows the 15% of the population suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) enjoy a normal meal without feeling like their intestines will explode. They develop novel patent-pending enzymes that break down common digestive triggers (starting with the FODMAP family of fermentable carbohydrates). Their first product FODZYME is a dietary supplement that enables folks to comfortably eat garlic, onion, wheat, and much more. Living with IBS isn’t just a medical issue because not being able to eat the foods you love severely impacts quality of life. That’s why for their customers, the product is magical. They launched FODZYME in 2021 and now hundreds of people around the world are purchasing FODZYME daily. Harvard-trained founders Anjie and David know firsthand how much the underserved IBS community needs this product: Anjie as a patient who developed FODZYME to solve her own gut problems and David who previously sold an IBS digital health company. FODZYME’s research has been presented at leading GI conferences and published in a peer-reviewed journal. The product is increasingly being recommended by clinicians like gastroenterologists and dietitians and recently recognized in a NYT article featuring FODMAPs.

Role Overview:

We’re looking for an Email (and SMS) Marketing Lead who lives at the intersection of data and storytelling. You’ll own lifecycle marketing end-to-end: flows, campaigns, A/B tests, segmentation, creative—everything. You’ll partner closely with design and content teams, and be the internal champion of all things inbox and SMS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own strategy and execution of all email and SMS marketing (campaigns + flows) to drive acquisition, retention, and upsell.
  • Manage Klaviyo like a pro: flows, list hygiene, segmentation, conditional logic, deliverability monitoring, analytics.
  • Design and build email templates in Klaviyo and Figma, ensuring a clean, branded, conversion-driven experience.
  • Write or collaborate on copy that’s scientifically credible, emotionally resonant, regulatorily compliant, and always in the FODZYME tone.
  • Expand SMS marketing from near-zero into a high-impact lifecycle channel (flows + campaigns).
  • Analyze performance metrics (open rates, CTR, conversion, LTV impact) and translate into actionable insights.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with growth, creative, and CX to make sure emails/SMS integrate into broader strategy.
  • Test everything—subject lines, CTAs, send times, segments, designs—and keep iterating to drive better outcomes.
  • Deeply understand our customer—people with gut sensitivities and food anxiety—and make every message feel like it gets them.

Must-Haves:

  • Significant experience in email/lifecycle marketing, ideally at a consumer health, wellness, or e-commerce brand.
  • Native-level English fluency and an exceptional grasp of American culture, humor, and lifestyle references—our customers need to feel seen.
  • Advanced Klaviyo skills—flows, automation, reporting, conditional content, list hygiene, etc.
  • Fluent in Figma, with a strong eye for design and layout across devices.
  • Copywriting chops—you can write with warmth, clarity, and conversion in mind.
  • Analytical mindset—comfortable pulling and interpreting performance data and driving tests.
  • A customer-first mindset and a genuine curiosity about gut health, food intolerances, and how people live with them.
  • Ability to move fast, own projects, and work across disciplines (this is not a narrow role—bring your full-stack marketer hat).

Nice-To-Haves:

  • Experience with e-commerce CRO and integration of email/SMS into broader paid/social funnels.

  • Experience with SMS marketing, or a strong interest and ability to ramp it up fast.

  • Prior work in healthcare, supplements, or biotech consumer brands.

  • Comfort collaborating with medical writers, scientists, or clinical content teams.
