About The Role

Abnormal AI is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for the Multi-Product Platform (MPP) team. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive the development and scaling of our products, platforms while building a high-performing engineering team.

Your Mission

  • Develop and maintain Abnormal’s multi-product platform products.
  • Lead the planning, execution and deliver of new features in existing products and new products.
  • Build reusable, scalable solutions, cloud native solutions for our internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Architect a low-latency, high-throughput platform and consumer facing products that will safeguard every outgoing email now and messages/information of our customers in the future.

As the team leader, you’ll be responsible for achieving outcomes and the autonomy to chart the course, drive execution, and build the team needed for success. The ideal candidate thrives in a distributed team environment and has experience leading full-stack teams in enterprise settings.

Key Responsibilities

Team Building & Talent Development

  • Define team requirements aligned with long-term objectives
  • Create and execute recruiting plans to attract top engineering talent
  • Develop effective onboarding programs for new team members
  • Foster a healthy team culture with high satisfaction and low attrition
  • Provide coaching and actionable feedback to support career growth
  • Actively manage performance, addressing both under and over-performance

Product Delivery & Execution

  • Drive execution plans to deliver on roadmap commitments
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Technical Leads on requirements and solutions
  • Enforce technical design standards and project plans
  • Establish and track operational metrics (uptime, SLAs, quality)
  • Implement best practices for software development and team processes

Leadership & Strategic Direction

  • Translate long-term objectives into executable team goals
  • Assess the feasibility of organisational strategies
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to develop quarterly OKRs and roadmaps
  • Drive continuous improvement in tooling and processes
  • Balance immediate needs with long-term product vision

Qualifications

Required

  • 2 or 2+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of 6+ engineers
  • 4+ years of product development leadership (as lead engineer or manager)
  • 2+ years leading full-stack teams building scalable web applications
  • Proven track record in technical recruiting and team building
  • Consistently high standards for project execution and quality
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or a related field

Preferred

  • Experience with our technology stack (AWS, Kubernetes, Python/Django, React, Postgres, Go)
  • Background in cybersecurity or data protection
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS products
