Your purpose

The Bitso Retail team is expanding, and we are looking for an Engineering Manager to guide and empower a cross-functional team of Frontend and Backend engineers. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for their professional growth and the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-quality products that put our users at the center.

You’ll partner closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to define our product strategy and set priorities. Your ultimate goal is to deliver an exceptional user experience, always prioritizing security and quality.

This role requires a deep technical and architectural understanding. You must have a strong background as a developer and a solid grasp of software architecture. While you won’t be expected to code daily, you’ll need to roll up your sleeves to support your team, unblock technical challenges, and ensure the right technical decisions are being made.

Who You Are

Leadership & Management:

  • 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
  • A proven track record of scaling teams and optimizing delivery processes.
  • Strong ability to coordinate multidisciplinary product engineering squads.
  • Experience building and launching large products to market.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proven history of delivering robust solutions using Java as a main technology.
  • Deep technical expertise in software engineering and architecture.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog) and automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and DevOps practices

Domain Knowledge:

  • Experience working on consumer-facing products
  • Experience in the payments or investment domain.
  • Passion for the crypto ecosystem.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and geographies.

Nice to Have

  • Crypto and trading knowledge
  • Experience with Springboot, gRPC, and REST
  • Experience with React Native or TS

What You Will Do

Team Leadership & Growth:

  • Manage and grow a team of engineers, including performance reviews, promotions, and career planning.
  • Identify and mentor high-performers while providing support to those who need assistance.
  • Lead hiring efforts to attract and retain top engineering talent globally.

Technical & Product Execution:

  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, unblocking challenges, and ensuring sound architectural decisions.
  • Drive engineering initiatives, ensuring high productivity and technical excellence.
  • Partner with product, design, and business stakeholders to define and execute the product strategy.
  • Challenge the status quo and deliver innovative, high-quality software solutions focused on customer value.

  • Foster a high-performance engineering culture by driving best practices in software development, security, and system design.
  • Ensure teams have the proper structure to scale efficiently.
