SUMMARY
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a new cross-functional team at Rasa, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering. You’ll work closely with a product manager and designer to shape, deliver, and iterate on features that push the boundaries of conversational AI. Your mission: grow an empowered, high-performing engineering team that thrives in a fast-moving, remote-first environment.
Full-time - 100% remote - Location: United Kingdom, Germany, or Serbia
This is a remote position, but we cannot hire anybody outside of UK, Germany, or Serbia for this role.
Rasa can assist with work authorization (visa sponsorship) for candidates located in Germany only.
ABOUT THIS ROLE
Own team structure, processes, and ways of working, tailoring them to support speed and quality
Mentor and coach engineers in their technical and professional development
Drive cross-functional alignment across engineering, product, and design
You can motivate others to reach their potential and you are responsible for your team’s ability to ship, holding them accountable while providing continuous feedback
Champion strong async communication practices and help your team operate autonomously in a remote-first setup
Actively contribute to improving DEI in hiring, team dynamics, and leadership practices
You’ll support your team by removing blockers, reviewing PRs, and occasionally contributing features or prototypes yourself. Our tech stack includes Python, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, and extensive use of large language models (LLMs) to build intelligent, scalable, and user-centric applications.
ABOUT THE TEAM
This team has a Product Manager, a Product Designer, a Tech Lead, 1 backend engineer, 3 full-stack engineers, 1 ML engineer, 1 QA engineer. We currently work in Kanban, value proactive communication, iterative & data-driven product development, prototyping & POCs. The focus area of this team for the next 6 months is focusing on first-time user experience (onboarding) on the Rasa Platform. This team has a strategic impact and tightly coordinates with other squads in Rasa.
ABOUT YOU

You have 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, ideally in startup environments
You are a strong communicator and educator, showing empathy, and coaching others to do the same
You previously worked as a senior software engineer (preferably Fullstack engineer) on complex, scalable systems and are still confident being hands-on and navigating technical discussions
You’ve worked in or led prototyping or PoC-heavy environments and are comfortable balancing speed with quality
You have strong product and business sense, you understand the “why” behind the work and how your team’s output impacts customers and the market
You are excited about generative AI and large language models (LLMs)
You want to work at a fast-paced startup and default to action
