Job Description
We are seeking a results-driven and confident Financial Controller to take ownership of our financial performance and lead our accounting operations. As part of a high-growth, private equity-backed software company, this is a pivotal role requiring strategic insight, strong leadership, and hands-on financial expertise.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for the review, improvement, and standardisation of processes to deliver high quality, monthly financial close activities and reporting according to tight deadlines. In addition, the Financial Controller will be responsible to ensure the year-end audits and compliance matters are completed on time for the various legal entities of Unit4.
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional numerical proficiency, drive, and enthusiasm with a can-do attitude to underpin Unit4’s ambitious growth plans ensuring adherence to internal controls.
The ideal candidate should possess strong management skills and be highly organised, have analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset. The Financial Controller should streamline our financial control functions and operations, provide financial analysis and reports, train staff on business finance issues and promote regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-end close activities and reporting
- Completion and filing of the annual financial statements for the legal entities including liaising with local auditors and co-ordination the audit process (across different countries)
- Support with the Annual Group Audit
- Analysing financial data including control of balance sheet accounts
- Managing financial transactions including approval of payments
- Streamlining accounting functions and operations
- Evaluating and managing risk including improvements in internal controls
- System improvements including automation of activities where appropriate
- Support with local compliance (tax / statistics etc.)
Qualifications
The ideal candidate has:
- Preferred qualification – Big 4 experience
- 1–2 years of experience in a Financial Controller or similar role within a multinational environment
- Masters degree in Finance, Accounting or any equivalent study
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and compliance standards
- Hands-on experience with financial reporting, audits, and internal controls
- Proficient in accounting systems; experience in a shared service or outsourced environment is a plus
- Analytical, detail-oriented mindset with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
