Full-Stack Lead Engineer
Location: NYC or commutable area highly preferred (2-3 days/week), Flexible/Remote by exception. Our NYC office policy is hybrid with 3-days in office.

25madison is a NYC-based venture capital platform that builds and invests in early-stage companies. We partner with entrepreneurs from the earliest stages to build breakout businesses at our Studio and invest in Pre-Seed to Series A opportunities from our Fund.

The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Full-Stack Lead Engineer to help us test feasibility, prototype MVPs, and drive early-stage product development across multiple new ventures. As our “cracked engineer,” you will own the technical implementation of each new startup concept—rolling up your sleeves to grind out code while making strategic decisions that balance speed and scalability. If you’ve got startup experience, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a knack for turning ideas into robust products, we want to hear from you.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. You’ve worked closely with founders before, understand the high-stakes tradeoffs in early-stage product development, and are ready to move quickly—from hacky prototypes to functional MVPs that delight users.
Startup Builder and Pragmatist
- 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience, ideally in startup environments.
- You’ve scaled products from initial prototype to production-ready, making critical architectural and technical decisions along the way.
- You’re comfortable with iterating fast, pivoting on requirements, and finding scrappy solutions to uncharted problems.
Full-Stack Expertise
- Front-end: Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React (our core front-end stack).
- Back-end: Solid experience in at least one of Node, Next, Nest (or, Rust, Golang if you’re a performance person) or Python—bonus if you’ve dabbled in more than one.
- Data-Science: Experience supporting data science teams and integrating ML/AI models. Hands on use with LLMs is great; hands-on ML/AI expertise is even better.
- You write clean, testable, and maintainable code that balances speed with long-term quality.
- Familiar with the B2B distribution business model and related operational/supply chain challenges a plus
- OR, Experience with the tech stack at industrials businesses a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Hands-On Engineering Leadership
- You’re prepared to own entire projects end-to-end — from ideation to deployment.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
- You’re unafraid to push code quickly but also know when to invest in scalability and best practices.
Team Player & Collaborator
- You communicate complex technical concepts in simple terms.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers as we expand our ranks.
- Collaborative spirit with a bias toward action — you see hurdles as opportunities to innovate.

Target Annual Base Salary Range: $170,000 – $210,000. Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. The salary reflected does not include an annual discretionary bonus, equity compensation, or other benefits offered by the Company, as applicable.
