About the position:
The Senior Payroll Specialist will oversee day-to-day Canada payroll matters, ensuring accurate and timely semi-monthly processing, reconciliation, and reporting aligned with best practices and compliance. This role will serve as our Canada subject matter expert, with support from the NA Payroll Manager. This role will actively participate in implementation projects & improvement initiatives to harmonize and streamline the payroll process.
What you can expect to do:
- Manage day-to-day activities and oversight of Canada payroll processing to ensure best practices aligned with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) payroll controls.
- Review and advise on Canada payroll initiatives, including vendor system configuration, payroll element requirements, and general ledger reporting
- Review and audit payroll tax compliance for Canada, including federal & provincial filing, and T4 processing.
- Support annual requirements on T2200 and T4 deadlines and communication
- Process ROE using vendor platform and handle Service Canada requests & inquiries
- Serve as the team expert to assist and resolve Canada payroll matters for employees, internal and external partners, and stakeholders, collaborating with Canada payroll team members
- Monitor vendor payroll processing and compliance activities, and review outputs for completeness and accuracy.
- Reconcile payrolls and communicate for Approval to the NA Manager
- Oversight & support team for delivery of data/reports to internal teams (HR, Finance, third parties, statutory) on an accurate and timely basis.
- Support Accounting, HR & Benefits teams with ancillary requirements, including WSIB reporting and taxable benefit support.
- Communicate regularly with the Payroll Manager about internal project updates, in-country provider service, and metrics
What we are looking for:
- Degree in Business, Finance, or related disciplines , or equivalent in work experience
- Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in Canada
- Minimum 5 years of experience with QC filings and process
- Minimum 5 years of ROE filing experience
- Intermediate to Advanced skill level in Excel & PowerPoint
- 2-3 years of ADP Workforce Now implementation and processing experience
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of data.
- Excellent command of the English Language Required, English & French preferred.
- Proficient time management skills with a strong sense of urgency.
- Flexibility to manage multiple time zones and requirements for a global remote workforce.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a global mindset
