Applied Technology Services (ATS) seeking an IT Project Manager. The work is currently full time remote but could become part time in the office and part time virtual or revert completely to the office work site.

This position will:

  • Support the Data Analytics Team in planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the work of the office.
  • Meet with Senior Management to determine the office priorities.
  • Delegate project tasks.
  • Track project performance and keep projects on schedule.
  • Maintain quality control of the project to meet expected standards.
  • Communicate with Stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in project management, Business or Public Administration, Computer Science, Communications, or related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • 5+ years of experience as a project manager, business analyst, change management analyst, systems analyst, or closely related experience in the analysis of information technology organizations and systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, developing, implementing, and supporting computer information systems and programs. Preferably in a Business Intelligence or Data Warehouse Team but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of a team with the work of other units within BCPS.
  • Ability to develop administrative reports including status reports, administrative reports, project roadmaps, project plans, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project.
  • K–12 education experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides coordination and oversight of all DW projects major and minor to ensure adherence to priorities, timelines, scope, and budget.

  • Leads daily standup meetings with team to monitor progress, resolve roadblocks, and evaluate work queues.

  • Collaborates and communicates with stakeholders on status, timelines, and requirements including leading large group discussions.

  • Creates/maintains policies and procedures.

  • Member of the Data Governance Committee providing subject matter expertise.

  • Creates and delivers both internal and external presentations representing the work of Data Analytics.

  • Provides technical leadership to ensure standards are met, solutions are scalable, and implementation is smooth by mentoring, designing solutions, leading design review sessions, and resolving roadblocks.

  • Creates and monitors team performance metrics.

  • Floats in/out of other roles as needed: Quality Assurance Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, and Data Warehouse Developer.

  • Ability to build relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders, other technical staff, vendors, and end users.

  • Coordinates and performs required unit, system, and performance testing. Works with other team members on User Acceptance testing and issue resolution.

  • Participates in continuous improvement activities by identifying and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and develops strategies for improvements.

  • Produces status reports and communications on a regular basis for senior management use.

Required Skills:

  • Experience working with Azure SQL Instance.
  • Understanding SQL Server scripting.
  • Understanding data modeling.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and peripheral equipment.
  • Skill in creative and analytic problem solving.
  • Understanding of Data Warehousing principles, concepts, and architecture.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project delivery dates.
  • Ability to effectively analyze and manage requirements.
  • Ability to visualize complex issues.
  • Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office suite of tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Knowledge of programming concepts and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to coordinate the work of a team with the work of other units within the Department of Research, Assessment, and Accountability and other BCPS offices, schools, and departments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of users, team members and senior management.
