Job Title: Local & Technical SEO Specialist

Position Type: Full-Time

Working Hours: US Hours

About Pavago:

At Pavago, we are hiring a Local & Technical SEO Specialist to support our client, a fast-growing digital marketing agency focused on delivering high-impact SEO and web solutions to clients in the HVAC and automotive sectors. In this role, you’ll be responsible for executing comprehensive SEO strategies across local service-based businesses (like HVAC) and e-commerce automotive sites emphasizing both local search optimization and technical SEO performance.

You’ll play a key part in managing on-site and off-site SEO, improving site infrastructure, maintaining and updating platforms like Shopify and WordPress, and driving digital performance through data-informed strategies. This role requires a technically strong, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Local SEO (HVAC Businesses)

  • Optimize Google Business Profiles (GBP) for HVAC clients.
  • Manage NAP citations and local directory listings.
  • Build and manage local backlinks.
  • Conduct location-specific keyword research and implement localized on-page SEO.
  • Monitor and report on local ranking performance, especially map pack visibility.

E-Commerce & Technical SEO (Automotive Clients)

  • Conduct SEO audits and identify technical issues (site speed, indexing, crawlability, structured data, etc.).
  • Manage product schema, canonical tags, internal linking, and image optimization for e-commerce sites.
  • Optimize product pages, category structures, and metadata for search engine performance.
  • Perform keyword research and implement optimized content and technical improvements.

Website & Platform Management

  • Update and maintain client websites built on Shopify, WordPress, and Cloudways.
  • Troubleshoot performance issues, apply site improvements, and manage hosting-level optimizations.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Use Google Analytics and Google Search Console to track performance and identify opportunities.
  • Generate monthly performance reports with clear insights and actionable next steps.
  • Monitor competitor SEO strategies and algorithm changes to adjust tactics accordingly.

Team Communication & Workflow

  • Communicate effectively with internal team via Slack, Gmail, and Notion.
  • Track time and tasks using Toggl and maintain organized documentation and SOPs.
  • Participate in regular check-ins and planning calls to align on goals and priorities.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Local SEO Specialist: Strong experience managing SEO for service-based businesses with a local presence (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, contractors).
  • Technical SEO Expertise: Comfortable running audits, fixing site errors, and optimizing backend SEO elements.
  • Platform Proficiency: Skilled in Shopify, WordPress, and Cloudways hosting.
  • Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Able to dig into data, extract trends, and act on insights.
  • Process-Driven: You thrive with checklists, structured workflows, and clear documentation.
  • Self-Starter: Able to take initiative, manage deadlines, and deliver without micromanagement.
  • Collaborative Communicator: Clear, proactive communicator who keeps everyone in the loop.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of hands-on SEO experience ideally with both local businesses and e-commerce websites.
  • Proven success managing Google Business Profiles, local citations, and location-based SEO strategies.
  • Proficiency with tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, GA4, GSC.
  • Experience updating and maintaining Shopify and WordPress sites.
  • Understanding of technical SEO fundamentals: site architecture, structured data, site speed, indexing, etc.
  • Time management and documentation skills using Toggl, Notion, and collaboration tools like Slack and Gmail.
  • Experience working with US-based clients or agencies (preferred).

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?

You’ll start the day by checking in on client dashboards, performance trends, and your task list in Notion. You’ll then run audits, update local citations or Google Business Profiles, and implement technical fixes on Shopify/WordPress sites. You’ll coordinate with the team on Slack, analyse GA and GSC data, and contribute to improving both local and e-commerce SEO results. By day’s end, your work will have helped service-based HVAC companies and automotive e-commerce brands improve their visibility, traffic, and conversions.

Interview Process:

  • Initial Phone Call: Engage in a brief conversation to understand your experience and suitability for the role.

  • Video Interview: Delve deeper into your professional background and assess your skills in a 30-minute call.

  • Final Interview: Have a comprehensive discussion with our client to ensure mutual alignment.

  • Background Checks: Conduct swift verification of your references and past employment details.
