Position Summary:
Corporate Accounting is responsible for overseeing the financial accounting and reporting functions for a rapidly growing insurance brokerage with $1 billion in revenue and significant merger and acquisition (M&A) activity. This position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with deep experience in corporate accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be an effective leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and possesses the skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to ensure compliance with accounting standards across various industry disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Consolidation & Accounting:
- Play a key role in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and other relevant regulatory bodies while identifying areas of improvement.
- Review and analyze corporate-level trial balance and segment-level reporting packages delivered to Corporate.
- Assist with high-level and accounting department analytical reviews.
- Oversee intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations for consolidated reporting.
- Provide support to the CFO, Corporate Controller and Segment Controllers.
- Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls over financial reporting to ensure accuracy and prevent errors or fraud.
- Work closely with external auditors and technical reporting and accounting to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.
- Support the preparation for audits and regulatory filings, promptly addressing any identified issues and assist with remediation initiatives.
- System & Process Optimization:
- Collaborate with IT and finance teams to enhance financial reporting systems, tools, and processes.
- Leverage automation and technology to improve the efficiency of accounting operations and ensure scalability among all segments.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong experience with corporate accounting, financial reporting, and consolidation processes.
- Experience in M&A accounting, including integration of financial systems and post-acquisition reporting preferred.
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting regulations, and accounting best practices.
- Experience in the insurance industry or financial services is preferred but not required.
- Strong proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite is a plus) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
