Job description

Role

SmarterDx is seeking a Manager of User Training and Engagement to build our first formal client-facing training function. In this foundational role, you will design, develop, and deploy scalable training experiences that empower hospital mid-revenue cycle teams, including CDI specialists, coders, and physician advisors, to confidently use our AI-powered clinical insight platform. You’ll accomplish this by creating the playbook for our internal teams to consistently deliver an exceptional onboarding experience for our current and future products.

This is a role that will shape how SmarterDx trains and supports users at scale. You’ll partner closely with Product, Customer Success, Clinical SMEs, Marketing, and Implementation — helping to identify, prioritize, and close documentation and knowledge gaps. Comfort with complexity, passion for clarity, and the ability to translate technical workflows into intuitive learning materials are key.

SmarterDx builds clinical AI that empowers hospitals to analyze the complete record of every patient to fully capture the value of care delivered. Founded by physicians in 2020, its proprietary AI platform understands the nuances of clinical reasoning, enabling hospitals to true the patient record for every discharge. By doing so, hospitals can recover millions in earned revenue, enhance care quality metrics, and optimize healthcare operations. Become a Smartian and help optimize the way the healthcare system works for everyone. Learn more at smarterdx.com/careers.

**This role is fully remote within the US**

What You’ll Do

  • Build a structured, scalable client onboarding and training experience for technical end users across diverse roles within the revenue cycle, including CDI specialists, HIM professionals, and coding teams
  • Develop and maintain reusable “train-the-trainer” materials that allow Account Management, Product, Clinical Excellence, and Implementation to consistently support our users at different stages of maturity
  • Partner with subject matter experts across clinical, product, marketing, and data to deeply understand real-world use cases and translate them into engaging, actionable training content
  • Create modular, role-specific learning assets that range from self-serve guides and toolkits to live training sessions and videos—designed to meet the needs of sophisticated healthcare professionals
  • Work directly with our users to understand their and pain points, and ensure our materials serve their needs.Lead the creation and ongoing refinement of a client-facing knowledge base
  • Define success metrics for user enablement and use learning data, feedback, and adoption signals to improve training impact and product engagement
  • Thrive in ambiguity by initiating clarity—driving projects forward with incomplete information and adjusting course as you gather new insights
  • Champion the voice of the user by identifying learning friction, anticipating confusion, and proactively solving for it through better education

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience designing, delivering, and/or onboarding users to technical workflows—with at least three years of experience involving healthcare revenue cycle
  • Strong instructional design foundation and fluency in adult learning principles, especially for professional, high-context learners
  • Demonstrated success working cross-functionally to turn evolving or undocumented product workflows into intuitive, impactful learning materials
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize complexity and confidently present to senior stakeholders
  • High degree of autonomy and initiative—you can self-direct, prioritize ruthlessly, and move forward despite ambiguity, conflicting input, or limited resources
  • Comfortable building from scratch in a start-up environment and excited by the challenge of establishing a new function
  • Deep collaboration skills with a bias toward action and learning; you listen well, test often, and build iteratively

Nice to Haves

  • Experience supporting health system clinical or operational users in the mid revenue cycle, particularly coders or CDIS professionals
  • Certifications in instructional design, training, or adult learning (e.g., CPLP, APTD)
  • Hands-on experience with Notion, LMS systems, or other content delivery tools
  • Familiarity with clinical workflows and the health system buyer/user landscape

Compensation

$130-150k salary + equity incentives
