Overview
Are you looking to make an impact? We are looking for a Software Engineer to support the VA. In this position, you will be working in a small, cross-functional team of Human-Centered Design practitioners to understand and synthesize customer needs, strategize improved service delivery, and design innovative solutions built on SaaS and PaaS products for the VA: Health and Benefits mobile app. If you have experience driving the product life cycle from proof of concept to product road mapping and execution and you’ve helped bridge gaps between customers and interdisciplinary teams, we’d love to hear from you.
This role anticipates approximately 10% travel
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to define, design, and ship new systems and features
- Participate in technical roadmap and architecture planning
- Work with other engineers and set standards for clean, maintainable, and efficient code
- Work with designers to review solutions for technical feasibility and accessibility
- Participate in design and code reviews to ensure the quality of the codebase
- Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in an agile software development environment, with proficiency in React-Native
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain scalable design system, with a strong understanding of accessibility, UI/UX best practices, and design patterns
- Ability to help prioritize, define, and architect work to ensure high quality while meeting our deadline goals
- Experience working with product and design teams to understand customer requirements and use cases that inform the solution design
- Comfort working in an agile, iterative, sprint based environment
- Experience with accessibility, privacy, security, access management, and writing software that handles PII
- Strong communication and collaboration skills

$110,000 - $137,000 a year
Compensation for this role is $110000 to $137000 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential
Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:
Tier 1: $110000— Meets minimum qualification/experience requirements. Beyond onboarding, will need additional guidance and training to perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 2: $127000— Experienced and fully-competent. Beyond onboarding, can independently perform key responsibilities of the role.
Tier 3: $137000— Highly-experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.
To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.

The contract this position supports requires US Citizenship.
In support of the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, and others like it across the country, MO’s job descriptions feature the starting range we reasonably expect to pay to candidates who would join our team with little to no need for training on the responsibilities we’ve outlined above. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility.
