Job description

About the Post-Master’s Associate at Headspace:

At Headspace, our mission is to create a world where everyone can be their best self. At the moment of need, we provide our members with stigma-free access to high-quality coaches, clinicians and content. We’re coupling on-demand care and data science to reinvent how the world gets emotional and mental health support. Headspace members receive a personalized care plan and the right level of care based on their needs - from self-management tools and coaching to therapy and psychiatry. The Headspace proprietary app delivers clinically validated self-care content, along with chat access to coaches and video access to therapists and psychiatrists.

Headspace is excited to offer a one to two-year Post-Master’s Associate role. This position is an excellent fit for candidates interested in providing teletherapy services in a collaborative care environment. The Post-Master’s Associate will acquire skills in providing innovative care and effective service delivery to clients throughout the United States. The position provides the opportunity to learn about Headspace’s unique service delivery model, including the opportunity to collaborate with mental health coaches and leverage in-app content to help members gain skills and meet treatment goals. Our professional training program provides an immersive experience that not only allows associates to hone their skills in teletherapy, but also allows opportunities to advance their skills within the context of our measurement based, collaborative care model. Associates in our program gain experience collaborating with professionals across the organization and have opportunities to learn about the variety of functions within a digital health company. We are committed to providing outstanding training, supervision, and mentorship to future therapists, with particular emphasis on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as aspects of anti-racist and culturally responsive care.

The telehealth clinical post-master’s associate training is a pioneering program designed to equip emerging therapists with advanced competencies in delivering evidence-based, culturally responsive, and measurement-based care within a digital health framework. Associates engage in intensive clinical work, honing their skills in teletherapy and remote assessment while receiving in-depth training on the latest digital tools and methodologies. Training supports associates in developing a generalist, adaptable, highly agile therapeutic skillset. Our unique program emphasizes the integration of cultural considerations into treatment plans, ensuring that care is tailored to diverse populations. Associates also learn to utilize real-time data to inform therapeutic progress and interventions, enhancing the effectiveness and adaptability of care. By focusing on these cutting-edge practices, the post-master’s associate training program prepares therapists to navigate the evolving landscape of digital mental health care, making them leaders in the field of telehealth and culturally attuned therapy.

Further, while employees of Headspace (formerly Ginger) cannot access Headspace products/services, they will be offered benefits according to the company’s benefit plan. To ensure we are adhering to best practice and ethical guidelines in the field of mental health, we take care to avoid dual relationships. A dual relationship occurs when a mental health care provider has a second, significantly different relationship with their client in addition to the traditional client-therapist relationship—including, for example, a managerial relationship.

As such, Headspace requests that individuals who have received coaching or clinical services at Headspace wait until their care with Headspace is complete before applying for a position. If someone with a Headspace account is hired for a position, please note their account will be deactivated and they will not be able to use Headspace services for the duration of their employment.

Further, if Headspace cannot find a role that fails to resolve an ethical issue associated with a dual relationship, Headspace may need to take steps to ensure ethical obligations are being adhered to, including a delayed start date or a potential leave of absence. Such steps would be taken to protect both the former member, as well as any relevant individuals from their care team, from impairment, risk of exploitation, or harm.
