About the Role

Data & Business Systems is at the core of the Stitch Fix ecosystem, enabling our partners to operate with a data-driven precision and innovate with a client-driven  purpose. We ingest, transform, store, build, analyze, and surface the foundations that enable our partners to turn information into insight and idea into product.

As our Enterprise Data Architect, you will be a leader in shaping this foundation, specifically by architecting the enterprise conceptual data layer that will be critical for unlocking the full potential of our data for the business and the advanced AI/ML applications we are building. You will be a strategic bridge between the diverse teams within Data & Business Systems and a wide range of stakeholders - product managers, data scientists, merchandisers, operations managers, frontend engineers, platform engineers, financial analysts, and business leaders. You will drive alignment for our enterprise data architecture with these partners and continue pushing it forward.

This role is on a high-visibility team and offers a unique opportunity to architect the very fabric of our data intelligence, driving impactful projects from day one. This role reports to the Director of Data & Analytics within the Data & Business Systems organization.

  • Develop roadmaps for and guide strategic decisioning for highly visible data platforms and systems.
  • Collaborate with a wide variety of business partners and be a key representative of the Data & Business Systems organization.
  • Be a strategic voice in the evaluation and adoption of new technology within the core data tech stack.
  • Author processes and policies for effective data use and stewardship across Stitch Fix.
  • Build a culture of technical collaboration and scalable, resilient systems.
  • Work with bright and kind colleagues who are passionate about their craft.
  • Design and develop the enterprise-wide conceptual data model for our fashion/retail domain, encompassing key entities including products, customers, orders, inventory
  • Have agency to architect and develop our enterprise semantic layer and underlying ontologies, laying the foundation for enhanced data understanding and AI-driven applications.
  • Define data models and data pipelines that are optimized for AI/ML use cases, ensuring data quality, feature engineering capabilities, and efficient model training and deployment

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 8+ years of experience in data discipline, with a focus on data architecture and data modeling
  • You have a degree in an engineering or computer science field, or related discipline.
  • You have experience working in the e-commerce or retail industry.
  • You possess deep expertise in the design of data architecture, development of data models, data pipelines, and semantic or business data layers, with a strong understanding of how they can be enabled for advanced analytics and AI/ML
  • You are proficient in Python and SQL.
  • You have exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience and drive alignment across groups.
  • You have familiarity with end-to-end data technologies including ingestion, transformation, storage, orchestration, analysis, data catalogs, data quality, and metadata management.  (Examples: Fivetran, Spark, dbt, Looker, Airflow, Datahub).
  • You have experience developing roadmaps and strategically planning large, enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • You possess excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • You have experience working autonomously and taking ownership of projects.
  • You possess strong experience building out scalable, distributed, and production systems in enterprise environments.
  • You have a desire to question the status quo and promote innovative solutions to challenging problems.

Compensation and Benefits

This role will receive a competitive salary, benefits, and equity. The salary for US-based employees hired into this role will be aligned with the range below, which includes our three geographic areas. A variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation–including a candidate’s professional background, experience, location, and performance.This position is eligible for new hire and ongoing grants of restricted stock units depending on employee and company performance. Salary Range

$142,800—$210,000 USD
