Job description

Our Partner, CARELL, is a leading name in the Greek ship repair and marine engineering industry, known for delivering complex dry-docking and afloat repair projects with technical excellence, speed, and precision. With operations across major shipyards in Perama, Syros, and Elefsis, they serve a global clientele of shipping companies who rely on them for critical repairs, overhauls, and retrofits.

They are currently on the lookout for a Project Manager – Ship Repair Manager to join their growing team and take full ownership of major vessel repair projects. This is an ideal role for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment and wants to lead cross-functional teams to deliver impactful results.

Mission:

As a Project Manager - Ship Repair Manager, your main goal will be to plan, coordinate, and execute ship repair projects from start to finish—ensuring technical quality, budget control, and timely delivery while leading teams and solving complex mechanical and operational challenges. You will be the key link between engineering, operations, subcontractors, and clients—ensuring that CARELL’s reputation for high-quality workmanship and reliable delivery is upheld on every job.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of ship repair projects: planning, execution, supervision, quality control, delivery.
  • Take technical leadership on propulsion systems, engine overhauls, piping, welding, and mechanical repairs.
  • Supervise internal teams, subcontractors, and yard workers—assigning tasks and ensuring timely execution.
  • Identify technical issues on board and implement fast, effective solutions.
  • Track and control project costs, man-hours, and resources.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, team members, and other departments.
  • Document project progress, work done, technical findings, and all major decisions.
  • Uphold safety standards and quality requirements across all operations.

Must Have

  • Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Naval Engineering.

  • 5+ years of experience in ship repair or heavy industrial project management.

  • Strong knowledge of propulsion systems, diesel engine overhauls (2-stroke and 4-stroke), shaft alignment, and deck machinery.

  • Familiarity with marine piping systems, structural repairs, welding processes, and machining techniques.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, tolerance charts, and manufacturer manuals.

  • Skilled in using measurement tools (dial gauges, micrometers, laser alignment).

  • Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, and technical reporting.

  • Fluency in Greek and English (spoken and written).

Skills & Competences

  • Leadership mindset with ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Clear communicator—both verbally and in writing.

  • Highly accountable and results-driven.

  • Attention to detail in execution and documentation.

  • Adaptable in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.

  • Commitment to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.

  • Competitive salary, based on candidate experience (plus overtime, weekends, and remote work, raising compensation accordingly).

  • A collaborative and professional team environment.

  • Opportunities for technical growth and career progression.

  • Exposure to international clients and complex engineering challenges.

If you’re passionate about ship repair, thrive on solving technical problems, and want to lead operations that matter— we want to hear from you.
