SUMMARY
The QHSE Lead, APAC provides regional support for Avetta clients and supplier members throughout the pre-qualification and audit process, leading the designated Avetta QHSE Audit Team across the region. The APAC Region includes (but is not limited to) Australia, New Zealand, Central Asia, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.
If residing within commutable distance to our office in Sydney or Newcastle, a hybrid schedule would be offered (3 days in office, 2 days work from home). Those outside of commutable distance will be considered on a remote basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The QHSE Lead has leadership responsibilities and will be expected to lead the team of QHSE auditors including training, coach, mentor and provide support and guidance. The lead role will be an in-country resource including audit programming functionality across the APAC region. The QHSE Lead will also be a key point of contact for Avetta clients within the region. In addition, the QHSE Lead will be responsible for the following:
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead the team of QHSE auditors, including training, coaching, mentoring, and providing support and guidance. Act as an in-country resource for audit programming functionality across the APAC region.
- Client and Supplier Interaction: Serve as a key point of contact for Avetta clients within the region. Handle client and/or supplier escalations and de-escalate in a timely manner.
- Audit Program Management: Locate, develop, and lead in-country resources to support regional audit programs. Daily allocations and management of audit queues. Monitor the audit-specific content quality and performance of assigned QHSE auditors.
- Training and Development: Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to new hires and ongoing support to the team for corrective actions and outcomes assigned to QHSE auditors. Conduct remote training and coaching using web conferencing software.
- Field Audits: Facilitate and coordinate field audit service offerings with clients, suppliers, internal Avetta teams, and QHSE auditors. Conduct manual, implementation, and/or field QHSE audits, providing guidance to suppliers to close gaps or deficiencies identified during audits.
- Product Improvement: Support audit product improvements and development to ensure efficiency and scalability.
- Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with Avetta internal departments on business insights across manual audit processes. Facilitate, collaborate, and moderate third-party prequalification schemes.
- Travel: Travel associated with this position could be up to 30% of work hours, depending on client demand and departmental needs.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the APAC QHSE Manager.
- Be available for additional travel outside of essential duties to conduct and support WHS field audits.
- Attend training, meetings, or seminars (on-site and/or remote).
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership experience, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate safety concerns effectively to clients, suppliers, and internal Avetta stakeholders. Provide constructive and motivational feedback to direct reports. Lead by example with a positive attitude and promote professionalism.
- Technical Skills: Assure understanding and conformance with Avetta policies and related Connect/CMO/third-party prequalification schemes. Prepare reports/dashboards using Salesforce, Connect, CMO, and Apollo to identify production and efficiency.
- Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent professional communication skills, problem analysis and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy, adaptability to workload fluctuations and intensive deadlines, ability to multitask and manage priorities, value adds in account management, customer service, and business development, ability for conceptual thinking and working knowledge of other major areas of Avetta business strategic initiatives, ability to integrate and communicate information on a one-on-one basis as well as in group situations, ability to provide effective leadership and guidance to Avetta employees, ability to read and interpret analytic data, information, and documents.
IDEAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
The QHSE Lead, APAC must meet the following requirements:
- Hold at minimum, an advanced diploma certificate in Work Health and Safety.
- Excellent knowledge of regional WHS standards and legislation.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of WHS legislation and standards, and application across the APAC region.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the safety profession.
- Working knowledge of the relevant industries.
- Lead Auditor Qualification in either or all ISO certifications (ISO 9001, 14001, and/or ISO 45001).
- Working knowledge of ISO certification standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001).
- Bi-lingual proficiency and knowledge of other countries’ H&S legislation and practices are a plus.
