This is a pivotal opportunity to join Sauce as an Engineering Group Manager during a period of significant growth and transformation. You will play a critical role in shaping the future of our R&D organization, directly impacting our ability to deliver innovative solutions and scale our platform. We are seeking hands-on leaders who can inspire, mentor, and drive technical excellence within their teams, while navigating the complexities of a fast-paced, remote-first environment. You’ll contribute to improving our development velocity, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and contributing to our “AI-first” strategic vision.

Key responsibilities

  • As a Group Engineering Manager, you will -
  • Lead and mentor teams - Senior manager leading 2-4 teams, fostering a high-performance culture, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to Team Leads and individual contributors.
  • Drive project execution - Own the execution of projects, ensuring on-time delivery with high quality. This includes sprint planning, task breakdown, estimation, and risk management.
  • Architectural oversight - Oversee technical architecture decisions, ensure adherence to code standards and best practices, and technical design reviews within your group.
  • Talent management - Responsibility for team staffing, including recruitment and performance reviews, ensuring a strong team of professionals.
  • KPI Definition & Measurement - Define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) for your teams to track progress and business impact.
  • Cross-team coordination - Collaborate effectively with other stakeholders (i.e. group managers, guild owners, product managers, and business domain owners) to ensure alignment and reduce dependencies.
  • Strategic contribution - Take part inย  the overall R&D strategy and resource planning.
  • Remote team excellence - Ensure effective communication and collaboration within your remote teams, with a strong sense of team cohesion and productivity.
  • Hands-on technical contribution - Actively engage in technical design, architecture, and, when necessary, coding to unblock teams and maintain deep technical understanding of your group’s services.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)3+ years of experience in an engineering management role, leading multiple teams.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading remote or distributed engineering teamsProven ability to drive complex cross-team projects management and execution, and deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated โ€œAI-first mindsetโ€ experience by proactively integrating AI/ML and low-code solutions into product development and operational workflows.
  • Solid grasp of system design, microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, OAuth, webhooks and eventโ€‘driven design
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and coaching technical teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to technical challenges.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating across various stakeholders (Product, QA, other R&D teams).
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.

Requirements (preferred)

  • Experience with .NET and microservices architecture
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with data modeling and database interactions
  • Experience in e-commerce or other B2C transactional platforms
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban)
  • Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and their application in software development
