Summary
Orbital Sidekick is seeking a Remote Sensing AI Researcher to build out machine learning infrastructure for their team of data and remote sensing scientists. The role involves conducting novel research applying AI/ML to satellite hyperspectral imagery, transitioning research to production, producing analytical infrastructure for AI/ML pipeline development, and publishing research in geospatial and/or AI conferences. The position requires 3+ years of experience in ML/AI or a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or similar. Preferred skills include relevant publications applying AI/ML to remote sensing data at top conferences.
Requirements
- 3+ years experience in ML/AI or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or similar
- Python, Pytorch, ML Flow/ClearML, DVC, Ray, Dask, Python data science stack
- Comfortable training models in a cloud (AWS) environment as well as using best practices to track ML experiments
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a startup environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with common remote sensing data types and tools, GeoTiffs, GDAL rasterio, xarray
Responsibilities
- Conducting novel research applying AI/ML to OSK’s satellite hyperspectral imagery
- Helping transition research to production, deploying models for both batch and online inference as well as embedded on the satellites
- Produce analytical infrastructure for AI/ML pipeline development
- Inform colleagues and mentor Individual Contributors about AI/ML opportunities, and tasks
- Publish your research in geospatial and/or AI conferences, write blog posts to show off your work
