Your mission:

As a Senior Backend Developer, you’ll work closely with the team to turn user and business needs into reliable, scalable backend solutions for our HR product, Tellent HR. You’ll help shape technical decisions, promote good engineering practices, and make sure we maintain high standards for code quality. You’ll take ownership of key backend modules, guiding how they evolve as the product grows. You’ll also mentor other developers by sharing your experience through code reviews, pair programming, and day-to-day support. Along the way, you’ll collaborate with frontend developers, designers, and QA engineers to deliver new features and keep everything working smoothly. You’ll help make technical choices early in the process and ensure they fit both user needs and the broader business goals.

About the team:

The Tellent HR product team is part of the Tellent R&D team focusing on the Core HR organised into two dedicated teams. Our particular sub-team is a vibrant mix of Backend Developers Frontend Developers, supported by Design, QA and DevOps teams. Even though we’re fully remote and flexible, we stay closely connected and collaborate daily. We also believe in keeping the atmosphere light and fun.

Your 12-month journey:

During the first 3 months:

  • You’ll meet the team, get to know the product, and understand how we work.

  • You’ll learn the application architecture and where we’re heading.

  • You’ll ship a few small, production-ready features that make a real difference to our customers.

Within 6 months:

  • You’ll work independently on more complex projects, owning feature delivery from start to finish.

  • You’ll contribute to improving our technical documentation.

  • You’ll help others by mentoring and sharing your knowledge where it’s needed.

  • You’ll also spot opportunities to clean up technical debt and improve how we work.

After 1 year:

  • You’ll be the go-to person for certain parts of the system.

  • You’ll work regularly with features and modules you’ve built or evolved.

  • You’ll help shape our technical direction — suggesting improvements to tools, architecture, and processes that the team adopts.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the development and maintenance of core parts of Tellent HR..

  • Maintaining and extending existing modules, and building new ones when needed.

  • Working closely with Developers, QAs, and Designers to deliver high-quality solutions.

  • Making sure the codebase stays clean, stable, and easy to maintain.

  • Proposing and building smart, scalable solutions to challenges as they come up.

  • Hunting down and fixing performance bottlenecks and bugs.

  • Reviewing code and helping document technical decisions.

  • Setting up profiling and monitoring so we can spot and fix performance issues early.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Strong skills in modern JavaScript and TypeScript.

  • At least 5 years of experience building scalable backend systems using Node.js.

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Express.js or similar backend frameworks.

    • Relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.

    • ORM libraries like Sequelize or TypeORM.

    • Writing and running tests with Mocha, Jest, or similar frameworks.

    • Working with GraphQL APIs.

    • Git for version control.

  • A strong understanding of asynchronous programming patterns.

  • Excellent communication skills in both Polish and English.

  • A problem-solving mindset and a focus on writing reliable, maintainable code.

Recruitment process:

To find our next Senior Backend Developer we will follow a few simple steps. The recruitment process will consist of:

- Video Call - Talent Acquisition interview - up to 30 minutes

- Video Call - Team Interview (Technical & Non-Technical) - 1.5 hours

- Meet the team (optional)
