The ideal candidate will have several years’ experience with VMWare cloud design, implementation and migration of customer workloads. You will be working in a dynamic environment and encouraged to come up with innovative solutions to technical problems, analyse and prioritise problems, putting customers at the heart of every decision.
You will ideally have proven experience in multiple VMWare deployments and migrations of large and complex customer environments. Your engagements will see you working directly with customers and prospects. You will have confidence in knowing your skills (and limitations), you are calm and collected under pressure and always available to mentor the less experienced. Your colleagues see you as a good team player who is keen to share knowledge as well as to listen and learn from others.
Responsibilities:
•Operating as a Lead Architect to support the design, delivery and operation of VMware technology offerings.
•Providing expert VMware technical leadership, guidance and solution governance for all VMware activities
•Architect VMware solutions in hybrid cloud environments
•Implementing VMware solutions and proof of concept environments
•Participating in client workshops and working as part of joint Rackspace / customer teams
•Documenting solutions and identifying risks for management
•Providing expert VMware technical consultancy and advice to customers and project teams
•Interpreting internal/external business challenges and recommending best practices to improve products, processes or services
•Conducting assessments of customer current-state environments and delivering findings and recommendations for the best-fit migration solution based on their unique situation.
Knowledge:
•Strong knowledge of designing, building, implementing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed, highly available systems
•Strong knowledge of Project Management methodologies
•Strong understanding of services and protocols, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of hosting environments, including web servers, databases, caching, and database services, OpenStack
•Scripting knowledge/experience is a plus (PowerCLI, REST).
•Strong knowledge of vCloud Director and vCloud Foundation.
•Advanced knowledge in the application of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols
•Degree in computer science, information systems, or other technology/engineering subject
•Analytical thinking and creative problem solving; you will own issues until full resolution
•Good time management skill
•Good communication skills - both verbal and written – with an ability to create and share project-related documentation
•Producing design documents such as HLDs and LLDs
•Production migration documentation including application assessments, migration architectures and migration runbooks.
•Willingness to learn and a quick learner
•Healthcare industry experience a plus.
•Relevant technical certifications a big plus.
