The Opportunity: DevOps Sr Manager

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in creating high-volume, high-performance, and highly available solutions to improve customer experience.

As a DevOps Manager, you will foster a collaborative team environment, ensure effective communication and performance across the DevOps team, and work with Architecture and Engineering teams to design and implement robust solutions.

You will manage the Product Development DevOps team, modernize and maintain CI/CD workflows, oversee new product deployments and updates, identify and resolve production issues, and implement integrations that meet customer needs. You should prioritize DevOps culture, collaboration, continuous improvement, and automation.

Your success will be measured by improved deployment processes and times, reduced server alarms, efficient operation of resources, and the ability to scale app traffic without increasing errors, while maintaining and improving error rates, response times, and uptime.

The Work itself:

  • Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology.
  • Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class cloud solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings.
  • Actively contribute to product quality improvements and valuable service technology.

  • Continuous integration and delivery process automation design and development.
  • Building and setting up new development and CI/CD tools and infrastructure.
  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers.

  • Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results.
  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
  • Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for leading and managing the DevOps Team
  • Works with product owners, solution architects, engineering managers, DevOps, and O&I to gather and refine requirements for products, considering existing tools and solutions across departments.
  • Provides domain expertise on cloud technologies, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Serverless architectures, Kubernetes (K8), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Fosters a collaborative DevOps culture, emphasizing teamwork, continuous improvement, and automation.
  • Ensures effective communication, Team work, and high performance across the DevOps team.
  • Designs and implements robust infrastructure that supports platform and application solutions.
  • Identifies and resolves issues to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Accelerate the automation for the release process.
  • Maintain and evolve CI/CD processes.
  • Building and setting up new development and CI/CD tools and infrastructure.
  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers,
  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes.
  • Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results.
  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
  • Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes.
  • Planning out projects and being involved in project management decisions.
  • Set-up new sites and applications via configuration management in lower environments.
  • Maintain / upgrade / patch tracking and documentation software for lower environments.
  • Support the development lifecycle of platform architectural design, deployment and debugging.
  • Ability to automate release deployments across development, QA and production stacks using a combination of scripting languages and other automation toolkits.
  • Deploy updates and fixes.
  • Provide Level 2 technical support by perform root cause analysis for lower environment incidents.
  • Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience.
  • Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues.
  • Develop scripts to automate visualization.
  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.

This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location. Remote positions may be required to be present at a Visa office with scheduled notice.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

•8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

•9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD

•Strong knowledge in GCP architecture, security and services.

•Knowledge in GCP and Azure architecture, security and services

•Experience in automation of code deployment across multiple platforms.

•Strong knowledge in Linux and Linux environments (RHEL 67, RHCSA/RHCE, CentOS).

•Engineering experience in building production infrastructure using code and repeatable designs

•Experience developing solutions using automation tools.

•Experience developing automation infrastructure provisioning tools (IaC. e.g., Pulumi, TerraForm).

•Experience with Docker containers and orchestration platforms such as ECS, EKS, GKE, and/or Swarm.

•Knowledge of ITIL, SOC 2 and PCI processes and experience evolving to Agile development lifecycles.

•Knowledge of networking, balancing and high availability.

•Ability to articulate complex architectures to non-technical audiences.

•Ability to document solutions and train operational teams on maintainability.

•Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL. Desirable, GCP Spanner.

•Experience with Database Administration, schema design, query analysis, performance tuning, and optimization – Postgres/MySQL/Oracle.

•Knowledge of security practices, networking protocols, firewalls, PCI compliance, etc.

•5+ years system architecture required with a demonstrated ability to read code and understand coding logic to assist in troubleshooting.

•2+ years of experience supporting mission critical production applications.

Skills:
