The Impact of a Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting at Coupa:
Coupa is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Manager, Technical Accounting to join our financial reporting team. This critical role will support Coupa’s continued growth by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial statements and technical accounting positions. You’ll leverage your deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations to lead financial reporting, research complex accounting matters, and collaborate across the organization.
You will assist in the preparation, research, and analysis of technical accounting matters and draft memos to document the company’s position in accordance with U.S. GAAP. The role involves working with cross-functional teams, senior management, and external auditors to identify and resolve technical accounting issues and financial reporting matters.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage the company’s financial reporting process, including preparing financial statements, footnotes, tie-outs, and disclosure checklists for external compliance.
- Conduct detailed variance analyses of financial statements to identify trends and ensure accuracy.
- Research and document technical accounting issues, collaborate with external auditors, and prepare accounting memos under US GAAP on topics like acquisitions, debt, impairments, and software capitalization.
- Review new accounting standards, assess their impact, and lead implementation of changes.
- Support month-end close, financial reviews, M&A integration, and ensure SOX compliance through robust controls and audit support.
- Drive process improvements, communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, and assist with ad hoc financial analysis and strategic projects.
What You Will Bring to Coupa:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with an active CPA license and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years at a Big 4 public accounting firm; experience with publicly traded companies is a plus.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong technical research and writing skills to clearly articulate and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Self-starter with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities; able to work independently and in teams.
- Superior organizational, multitasking, project management, and time management skills, adaptable to fast-paced environments.
- Experience with Workiva, NetSuite, and other modern financial reporting systems, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
