The opportunity:

The Senior Ocean Gateway Associate plays a critical role in Flexport’s mission to make global trade easy for everyone. Flexport today connects over 10,000 clients and suppliers across 109 countries. This role will work in a cross-functional environment, partnering closely not only with our freight forwarding partners and ocean carriers but also different teams across the company to achieve our common objectives.

You will:

  • Help to build operational performance frameworks, processes and tools to manage our Ocean performance in the Indonesia market
  • Use Flexport allocation tools to actively route cargo to ocean carrier contracts with the optimal cost, transit time, and allocation availability
  • Drive operational performance management of Flexport’s freight forwarding partners, Ocean Carrier.
  • Define and leverage global performance metrics, targets, dashboards and reporting to drive quality and consistency of operations. Align with Partners, Account Management, Global Operations
  • Be a trusted advisor and coach to internal and external stakeholders. Continuously identify gaps and develop solutions focused on process standardization for both the Flexport Ocean Gateway team as well as our Freight Forwarding partners
  • Identify operator training needs and design and execute training programs to drive operational quality
  • Manage client communication and resolve escalations
  • Be responsible for shipper onboarding, ensuring a smooth transition onto our platform, managing relationships and proactively addressing any concerns to set them up for long-term success
  • Prepare presentations and analysis for monthly and quarterly business reviews
  • Support the creation of enablement resources to ensure our internal teams are able to sell and manage export and import shipments for Indonesia

You should have:

  • BA/BS degree with 5-7 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain and ocean carrier operations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills
  • Language requirements: fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and strong in English
  • Solid operational knowledge related to end-to-end shipment lifecycle
  • Ability to deep dive and create data driven insights
  • High attention to detail and SOP’s
  • Continuous process improvement mindset
  • Focus on client experience
  • Strong ability to build relationships globally, managing different stakeholders and the ability to influence others
