Job description

Hi, we’re Gravie. Our mission is to improve the way people purchase and access healthcare through innovative, consumer-centric health benefit solutions that people can actually use. Our industry-changing products and services are developed and delivered by a diverse group of unique people. We encourage you to be your authentic self - we like you that way.

A Little More About The role:

As the Senior Vice President of ICHRA Engineering, you will report directly to the General Manager of the ICHRA business unit and serve as the senior-most engineering leader responsible for building and scaling a new, dedicated platform to power our ICHRA product.

This role is ideal for a senior technology leader who thrives in early-stage platform development and wants to have a direct impact on product architecture, engineering culture, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with the enterprise CIO and centralized Platform Architecture, Information Security, and Corporate IT teams to ensure the platform is enterprise-compliant, secure, and scalable. This is a unique opportunity to lead the build of an industry-leading solution in a high-growth market.

About ICHRA:

Founded in 2013, Gravie was a pioneer in the Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRA) market and continues to be a leader in the industry today. ICHRAs are a modern, flexible employer-sponsored health benefit model that allows organizations to reimburse employees—tax-free—for individual health insurance premiums and qualified medical expenses. ICHRAs empower employees with more choice and portability in their healthcare while helping employers manage costs, compliance, and benefit design with greater control.

You will:

·       Lead the end-to-end development of a new ICHRA platform from the ground up, including architecture, core systems, integrations, data, and customer experiences. Define a multi-year technical roadmap, establish technology governance standards, and manage technical and operational risks.

·       Serve as the top engineering executive for the business unit, reporting to the General Manager of ICHRA and partnering on strategic and operational planning. Strategically manage budgets, resource allocation, cost optimization, and demonstrate clear ROI for engineering investments.

·       Collaborate deeply with centralized Platform Architecture, Information Security, and Corporate IT teams to align with enterprise standards on security, infrastructure, and scalability.

·       Play a visible role in talent acquisition in order to attract top engineering talent to build and lead a high-performing engineering team across backend, frontend, DevOps, QA, and data engineering functions. Establish clear career paths for engineers and empower teams through effective delegation. Effectively develop and lead high-performing teams.

·       Design resilient systems with robust disaster recovery and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity and responsible use. Ensure the platform is secure and compliant with relevant regulations including HIPAA, ACA, IRS Section 213(d), and applicable healthcare privacy and security laws.

·       This includes developing a deep understanding of the ICHRA business model and how technology drives revenue and profitability. Partner with Product, Compliance, Operations, and GTM teams to define and deliver features that meet employer and employee needs while differentiating the product in the market.

·       Establish and manage engineering processes, KPIs, technical metrics, and development practices that drive quality, speed, and reliability. Address and prioritize technical debt while driving performance optimization across the stack.

·       Identify opportunities for technical innovation and process improvement while anticipating long-term scalability and extensibility needs. Explore emerging technologies and lead the development of a comprehensive API strategy for internal and external use.

·       Continuously improve the software development lifecycle, manage vendor relationships, plan capacity for growth, and oversee robust incident management and root cause analysis.

You bring:

·       15+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 7 years in senior leadership roles.

·       Proven success in building platforms from scratch and scaling teams in high-growth or startup-like environments.

·       Strong experience working in or adjacent to regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, fintech, or enterprise SaaS.

·       Demonstrated ability to partner with centralized teams in architecture, infosec, and infrastructure to ensure platform alignment and compliance.

·       Deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, and secure software development practices.

·       Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar regulatory and security frameworks.

·       Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills.

·       Passion for building high-impact technology that improves healthcare access and affordability.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related majors.

Extra credit:

·       Masters degree or other related educational experience
